I read the same review, its a great little film. Tells the story of how the boys formed by them. Commentary is worth a listen too, with Chrissy Boy and Dave Robinson. Glad I bought it as I was recommended it from someone else!

Great isn't it, Bruce and Rick are legends. :) Did you check out the other 3 videos? They do a fantastic 'Tube Station', bassline to die for

Yeh go for it, some great stand out tracks on there too, Ghosts, Running on the Spot and of course Town Called Malice. I Don't dislike the album, but you can tell the direction that Paul Weller was trying to move the band into. Luckily he decided that his new band 'The Style Council' would better suit this sound.. phew!

Paul Weller felt he had taken the Jam as far as he could take it, and I respect him for that. Fact is, the Jam split up at the peak of their popularity, number 1 album number 1 single, how many bands nowawadays call it a day when the public still want more? Weller stated at the time that he didn't want to become like The Rolling Stones, staying together for the sake of it and churning out crap

Madness definately crept slowly away from their ska influences, but you're right, they did it progressively much in the same way that the Jam moved away from their punk roots. If you compare 'In the city' to their last album 'the Gift' they are poles apart

Amen to that mate, here they are something of a British institution. Everyone knows them and theyre songs, even people who have never really heard any of their albums know all their singles and probably know all the words, which is saying something. I grew up and they were always there when my brothers would play them, but now I discovered them properly for myself and their albums are superb

oh yes, many a time mate, I live in London afterall :) To be honest I didnt even know who he was until someone told me, (this was before I got into them big time) hes quite a quiet guy, but he dont mind talking about Madness! It was my sister who told me actually, and I didn't believe her until I was standing next to him lol If Woody is anything to go by (and im sure he is) then they are

Lucky friend :) I got so much respect for all of the guys, Mark Bedford is a top bass player, I mean really great. Woody lives just down the road, he teaches at my sisters school, hes a music teacher slash technician. All the people there call him Woody, hes a top down to earth guy. When hes in, they play Madness delibretly in the common room and he avoids it at all costs! lol bless him

'Thick as thieves' is still one of my favourite songs by the Jam, it's even better live as is most of their stuff. 'Burning Sky' is a great track, if you look up the lyrics you'll see that it's actually a letter. And yes, private hell is the reason I chose this name, also fitted well with my life :P

Setting songs is great isn't it :) Not a bad track on the album at all! Love the way the album starts with the phone ringing quietly then 'Girl on the phone' comes in on full pelt. Also the way the album ends is fantastic, at full speed with 'Heat wave'

I'm exactly the same, if I feel a band is worthy of my well earned cash, I happily buy all the albums without a second thought lol I own all of Madness and all of the Jam, recently bought 'One Step Beyond' remastered, which is great

When I first got into the Jam, my mate lent me all the albums on CD, including their 2 live CDs, so you can imagine I was overwhelmed with great tunes in a short space of time. If you get a chance, download (or buy) Live Jam, because their studio albums are only half of the Jams magic

Yes, the song was a 'homage', hence the retro sound to the track :) Sound Affects lyrically is most definately the best album, but in terms of sheer impact and enjoyment, Setting Sons gets my vote

Do you have a favourite song from 'All Mod Cons'? Down in the tube station at midnight has to be mine, the song is like a poem, really good writing for a guy who was only 19 at the time

There's some fantastic tunes on that album, 'Thick As Thieves' 'Private Hell (Where I got my name from' 'Wasteland' 'Burning Sky' oh and 'The Eton Rifles' of course
