Top albums of 2010
21. Sister Sin-True Sound Of The Underground
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KB3UiwAdfec
First of the 4 Swedish bands on this list. Sister Sin brought out a cool 2010 effort with the name of "True Sound Of The Underground". Sweet and heavy album with tons of attitude.
Standout Tracks:
Outrage, Sound Of The Underground, 24/7
20. Black Veil Brides-We Stitch These Wounds
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jXut97F2Qew
While post hardcore isn't exactly my favourite genre, I genuinely enjoyed Black Veil Brides debut album "We stitch these wounds". The band get's lot of shit thrown at them, mostly because of their over the top emo/gothic looks, but the music is actually pretty good. They are somewhat also influenced by straightforward Hard Rock which can be seen on some of the kickass guitar playing.
Standout Tracks:
Knives And Pens, The Mortician's Daughter, Sweet Blasphemy
19. Crazy Lixx-New Religion
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1cQNKdKMW8
Swedish hair metallers brought out a good album. The clear 80's rock influence is there and fans of that era of Rock N' Roll will certainly enjoy Crazy Lixx's effort. Still they can't challenge theire Swedish rock brothers Hardcore Superstar and Crashdiet, but nonentheless they made an album that clearly belongs to top this list.
Standout Tracks:
Lock Up Your Daughter, My Medicine (R.O.C.K), Blame It On Love
18. Methods Of Mayhem-A Public Disservice Annoucement
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2S_XDPRq-lY
What a positive suprise! The Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee's Methods Of Mayhem brought out a suprisingly versatile record featuring influences from different genres including rock, pop punk, nu-metal and electro. Truly a fun ride throughout. And we need to hear Back To Before at night clubs! What a great song.
Standout Tracks:
Back To Before, Louder, All I Wanna Do
17. Deadmau5-4x4=12
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YnwfTHpnGLY
Deadmau5'es new album rules. The only problem is the length of some of the tracks, they get a bit repeative after a while, but in the end of the day the album is just pure win. Put your party mode on and enjoy.
Standout Tracks:
Raise Your Weapon, Some Chords, Bad Selection
16. Shylock-Rockbuster
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2S4Azc-w0Y
A nice suprise find! Never heard from this band before until I listened the Rockbuster album and I must say that the german rockers brought out a cool melodic hard rock album with some catchy tunes. Maybe they are the ones taking Scorpions place after their retirement? Who knows, at least this album indicates good things.
Standout Tracks:
Rumours, Dawn, Sunshine vs. Rain
15. Murderdolls-Women And Children Last
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MAmZgnUwxWY
Just pure adrenaline throughout. No stops, just Murderdolls brand of dark twisted punky rock n' roll. If you need your energy charge of the day, just put on "Women and Children last" and jam out. Cool album.
Standout Tracks:
Summertime Suicide, Nowhere, Blood Stained Valentine
14. Shooter Jennings & Hierophant-Black Ribbons
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=llWz5IPNq3A
Well not at all what I was expecting from Shooter Jennings, but the album suprised positively. The album sound draws influences all the way from industrial to country, so it's somewhat of an unique blend of great music. "Black Ribbons" is a consept album, featuring Stephen King as the narrator and the story works really well with the sound of the music. Great album all around and the title track might just be one of the best tracks made this year.
Standout Tracks:
Black Ribbons, Triskaidekaphobia, All Of This Could Have Been Yours
13. Stone Sour-Audio Secrecy
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrv6sa0PrtU
Stone Sour made a great album. Standout are clearly the ballads which are all top notch. The reason why this album didn't make higher on the list is due to the fact that the rockers are clearly overshadowed by the ballads so they seem a bit bland on the contrast. That makes the album a bit unstable. But you can't deny the fine quality of this release so the place number #13 is justifiable.
Standout Tracks:
12. Hadouken!-For The Masses
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCRztB9SXpM
Great & Fun album from start to finish! Hadouken's energy is great and the album really pumps you up. "For the masses" is best used with your favourite brand of alcohol and good quality stereo system.
Standout Tracks:
Mic Check, M.A.D, Turn The Lights Out
11. Buckcherry-Reckless Sons
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_rX8-WAgA8
Buckcherry's acoustic EP "Reckless Sons" was released as a bonus disc on the deluxe edition of their new album "All Night Long". And the suprise was there when the bonus EP actually was way better than the actual album. Great acoustic performances of great songs. Quality release!
Standout Tracks:
Fire Off Your Guns, Grace, My Friend
10. Slash-Slash
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X85UUDhZaCw
Slash delivered. Really cool rock n' roll album which also shows that Slash has retrieved some of his inspiration by bringing out new style on some of the tracks, most notably in the metal sounding "Nothing To Say".
Standout Tracks:
Beautiful Dangereous, Gotten, Nothing To Say
9. Danko Jones-Below The Belt
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xN82gSo85O4
The album just rocks. There isn't any more to add, just full on high energy catchy fun Hard Rock. A pleasure to listen and to rock out.
Standout Tracks:
Full Of Regrets, I Think Bad Toughts, Active Volcanoes
8. Dirty Skirty-Long Live Rock N' Roll
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLS4k0pMwsg
A great flawless debut album. They are sleazy, fun and most imporantly they rock! Any rock fan should take a moment to check this guys from Myspace. The third best debut album from 2010.
Standout Tracks:
Ride, King Sleaze, Spill Your Heart Out
7. The Damned Things-Ironiclast
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMANR-wrg7o
A super group featuring members from Anthrax, Fall Out Boy and Everytime I Die. And together they make a great rock album, which beats anything they have ever done with their "number one" bands. Hope they stay together to produce more kickass material.
Standout Tracks:
We've Got a Situation Here,
A Great Reckoning, Friday Night (Going Down In Flames)
6. Crashdiet-Generation Wild
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UymaV1xlhRs
With the new great frontman Simon Cruz they delivered "Generation Wild", all around fantastic Hard Rock album. It just might be the best album from these Swedish rockers to date.
Standout Tracks:
Generation Wild, Chemical, Save Her
5. Pendulum-Immersion
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tEPB7uzKuh4
I really wasn't that into Pendulum but I figured i'd give the new album a chance. And see what happend, the album made me a fan so it clearly deserves it's place on the top 5. Not a bad track on the album, just full of pure slamming victory. Great album.
Standout Tracks:
The Island pt.2, The Vulture, Watercolour
4. Alter Bridge-AB3
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_viH3FchWI
At first listen I felt a bit underwhelmed but since the second spin off I was hooked. Alter Bridge didn't dissapoint and they delivered once again a great album. Kennedy's vocals & lyrics and the music are top notch and the songs are just fantastic. "Ghost Of The Days Gone By" is one of the best songs released this year.
Standout Tracks:
Ghost Of The Days Gone By, Fallout, Wonderful Life
3. Hardcore Superstar-Split Your Lip
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ui14pfmAnJM
The Swedish street metal superstars take the bronze place of 2010. "Split Your Lip" brings the bands sound a bit closer to the sound on their selftitled album and that's a huge plus. Hardcore Superstar's last album "Beg For It" was the 6th best album of 2009 so they have taken a step forward with this newest album. "Split Your Lip" is quaranteet Hardcore Superstar quality, just pure class Hard Rock allaround.
Standout Tracks:
What Did I Do, Sadistic Girls, Here Comes That Sick Bitch
2. Jettblack-Get Your Hand Dirty
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsALXltSMRE
Ladies and gentlemen, the debut album of the year and the second best album of 2010. Flawless rock n' roll album, with full of attitude, great riffs and catchy songs. I'm happy to be suprised with bands like these, because they are the ones keeping the true rock spirit alive.
Standout Tracks:
Two Hot Girls, Get Your Hands Dirty, When It Comes To Lovin'
1. Avenged Sevenfold-Nightmare
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D2CsHodyN48
At the end of the day choosing the best album from 2010 was pretty much a no brainer. Avenged Sevenfold's Nightmare is just a great ride fullfilled with top quality musicanship and most importantly emotion caused by the death of their drummer. The pain of losing your best friend really shows on the album and the feelings are genuine, not over the top or anything like that. Listening to end of "Fiction" was one of the most memorable musical moments of 2010. Nightmare is A7X's best album to date and clearly by a mile the best album of 2010.
Standout Tracks:
Fiction, Buried Alive, So Far Away
