Haha, well - this turned out quite interesting - pretty different from the two lists I created myself. (Commerical Albums & Free Albums)
Some albums must not have been included, looking at my Library and the playcount for some of my top picks on the Free Albums list - and some albums I simply found too late in the year - Merryweather Post Pavillion was the first album I heard in 2009, God Bless Your Weary Soul, Amanda Richardson was one of the last albums I discovered - of course MPP has more scrobbles.
Especially interesting is Dananananaykroyd though - which I didn't include in my list, but apparently liked enough to listen to it loads of times.

At least when it comes to the #1 pick for each list, the statistics match with the opinion. :p
