I am often told I have an old soul because of my tastes in well pretty much everything, I prefer older cars and sedans, I eat foods that most people nowadays are repulsed by, even my taste in movies is incredibly different, but for some reason whereas must of these are considered socially odd or even unacceptable, music is free from these boundaries (at least when your with open minded audiophiles), my taste has been called eclectic and sometimes even shocking due to the persona people believe I portray, I don't know if any of you do this but when i listen to recordings from certain genres, scenes, and revivals, I try and place myself in that scene so I can better understand their meaning, like when I listen to Metallica and Exodus, classic Thrash Metal , i picture how hard it must have to get a gig , they're to melodic for the hardcore clubs and to aggressive for the metal clubs in the 80's , or back when Proto-Punk was being recorded by piss ant label in just a pathetic number of pressing not knowing that would inspire musicians world wide, Punk, Grunge, Glam, Hardcore, New Wave, No Wave, the list is practically endless, I think of all of those down and out Hardcore groups(Reagan Youth, The Germs, Artificial Peace, Void, Frantix ) in the early days that would pool their money just to get on a spilt LP and make their feeling heard even though the world hated them and only to be listened by those who truly understood them, even Emo (which i know most people have an immense disdain for) struggled for years, there were bands like Jawbreaker, Split Lip, Samiam, Navio Forge , and Orchid, that gave it their all, and believe we as fans owe all off these artists that persevered and pushed the medium forward, respect and at least a listen, if you don't like them thats fine, but recognized what they were trying to do and what some of them accomplished
–Thank You–
