ኦሮምኛ ተናገረል ልሽ፣ ጓደኛ? I don't seem to come across many Oromo songs. "Kiya Kiya" is the only one I regularly hear that I know is in Oromo. I understand that Hamelmal Abate is Oromo, but generally sings in Amharic. What would you say about the ethnic diversity of the Ethiopian music available on last.fm? Your listening habits sure don't look like they're along any narrow, national or ethnic chauvinistic lines, and I'd be interested in whatever observations you might have.

I see that your info is showing up on your page again. Did that happen as mysteriously as it had stopped, or did you do something to fix it?

Well, I'm glad you haven't had any problems. It doesn't seem to be any certain place--I read complaints from Europe, but I'm in Minneapolis. In any case, it's playing again now.

Have you been able to play your library? I haven't been able to play any libraries since Friday evening. It's apparently happening to lots of people.

Yeah, I listen to last.fm lots. Thanks for telling me how my spelling was. My first language is እንግሊዝኛ። As far as writing አማርኛ, (I'm going to try to sound out what I've heard, and ask you to tell me whether I'm on the right track): ኢ፣ የ፣ ትማረ፣ ክሁ፣ ነው (I'm learning) (I'm guessing that ትማረ & ነው are words, or roots of words, and I don't know what the other sounds are grammatically). I hope you're doing well, ጓደኛ. Take care.

ምንም ችገርልም፣ ጓደኛ! In case my spelling was a bit off, that was "You're welcome." Once again there was a part that I couldn't find in either of my dictionaries. By the way, I've really been enjoying those tracks by Rasha. Thanks again for the recommendation.

Thanks for the recommendations. I listen to Mohammed Wardi on imeem.com. I had once played something by Rasha that I hadn't cared for, but I really liked the track you shared. After it finished, I tuned in to "Rasha Radio," and liked the first thing that played. አመሰግናለሁ፣ ጓደኛ!

እንደምን ንሽ? I had a friend of mine at work show me how to write that. So you love Sudanese music! I've heard a lot of good Sudanese music on YouTube, and a little bit on imeem.com, but last.fm doesn't play those musicians. What Sudanese music do you recommend, whether it's on last.fm or not?

ታዲያስ፣ ጓደኛ። እንደምንሽ? (did I spell that right? When I checked with the dictionaries, I couldn't find it--"How are you?" Anyway, I hope you're well.) Do you know a song from Sudan called "Zenuba" or "Zanouba" (or some other spelling)? I understand that several Ethiopian singers perform it, including one ከበቡሽ ነጋሽ. By the way, I hope that software download has worked out for you, if you've had a chance to do it. Take care.

ታዲያስ. I've been looking through your library and seeing lots of music that I like. I listened to a couple of songs that I hadn't heard before, too, and liked them. Feel free to send music recommendations my way. And good luck with that software!

I downloaded the font for free off the internet. I still need someone who knows computers better than I do to help me fix stuff--I should be able to type it in Word, but I can't. I think I installed it wrong. Anyway, you can get to the site from here: www.amharicdictionary.com/2.0/Default.aspx. When you click on "Links page," there'll be instructions. If you're like me, you might want an extra person there to help :) Let me know how it goes. Maybe we could post to each other sometimes? I'm learning Amharic (ትንሽ ትንሽ ዛሬ፤ ወደ ፊት ደኅና), and any opportunity to practice is helpful.
