• The Pogues 3/16/08 Roseland Ballroom NYC

    19. Mär. 2008, 21:12

Sun 16 Mar – The Pogues, Billy Bragg
The Roseland has a long list of things you aren't supposed to take in the venue, and I was suprised I got my camera in after being frisked and the sercurity guy feeling it in my pocket. This was the least of things people snuck in though. Oh not to mention I sat there videotapping on my camera right in front of security, though they were more worried about crowd surfers and drunk people getting in fights than me. The show was very packed when we got there, the floor was pretty much filled up already, and Billy Bragg was on. It was cool seeing Kate Nash join him on stage as well, as she seems to be up and coming. It was amazing we were able to get so close to the stage, since it was packed, we walked up the left aisleway and were right there off to the side of the stage all night long. During the intermission we were able to move up a bit by the beam. The Pogues came on a bit after 9, and Shane was already very drunk, and had a fan blowing on him. They started out with Streams of Whiskey, which I got a video for, but it came out a bit blury, so I didn't upload it. They also did Dirty Old Town, Sally MacLennane, Fairytale Of New York, The Irish Rover (which they announced 3 times previous to actually playing the real version), and Turkish Song Of The Damned (which you see Shane fall over drunk and it was early in the set). A very good show a lot of drunk people of course.

  • How Eclectic Am I?

    24. Dez. 2007, 1:34

Take your top 20 artists. For each of these artists, collect the top 5 similar artists. The resulting number of unique artists is your eclectic score. If the score is small (extreme = 5) your musical preferences are very limited, and if it is large (larger than 80, extreme = 100), then you have an eclectic musical preference. You can compute your own score at http://anthony.liekens.net/pub/scripts/last.fm/eclectic.php

  • Top 10 Of 2007 So Far

    6. Nov. 2007, 0:11

Here are my top 10 albums so far of 2007, though only 2 more months left. As I say these are my personal favorites, and based on what I have heard so far this year.

    1. Sister Vanilla - Little Pop Rock
    2. Arcade Fire - Neon Bible
    3. Thrushes - Sun Come Undone
    4. Modest Mouse - We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank
    5. Interpol - Our Love To Admire
    6. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Baby 81
    7. Colour Kane - A Taste Of
    8. Lovespirals - Long Way From Home
    9. Sea Wolf - Leaves In The River
    10. Skinny Puppy - Mythmaker

Some good ones not on there are Combichrist, Mind.In.A.Box, VNV Nation, All My Faith Lost..., People Noise, The Mission, The White Stripes, and Velvet Revolver, though a lot of good albums came out this year. Can't say I've been blown away by many of the goth or industrial albums that came out this year, but I haven't heard Siouxsie's album yet. The only real industrial album that even stuck out to me was Mythmaker, then again I am a pretty big Skinny Puppy fan. I don't think Current 93, Death In June, or the Pink Dots put out anything this year, though I could be wrong.
