Dammit, sorry for rambling about the MM show. You probably already knew all that already, haha.

BUT you're seeing Neutral Milk Hotel soon! I have not the opportunity even to see Jeff solo. He only played at a festival once near me, otherwise he hasn't played anywhere near the Los Angeles area. :((

Then they pulled out Dark Center of the Universe during the encore, which was damn unexpected. I wished they had played Broke or Truckers Atlas or Cowboy Dan, but they didn't, at either show. I still need to see those. Oh! And I met Isaac after the show and he signed my Long Drive CD booklet.

I have indeed seen Modest Mouse. Twice actually. The first in San Luis Obispo and the second at some surfing competition in Huntington Beach (where the crowd sucked and I couldn't get close to the stage). They were shockingly good both times, even without Eric Judy (I still wish he was there but whatever). Even Good News and beyond sounded great, I liked those songs so much better live. The SLO show was beyond incredible, life changing. I couldn't have asked for a better setlist, if only they had played Heart Cooks Brain (which was on the damn setlist!!! but wasn't played.) I went in with very low expectations, judging by a youtube video of a recent show for them to be way past their prime, but I was blown away. Doin' the Cockroach couldn't have sounded better if it had been 1997. They played, like, all of Good News, but they sounded GREAT with Jeremiah drumming.

I've known about that band for a long time now, but their name always seemed so silly and pretentious to me. I think that was keeping me away. I'll definitely check them out, but I dunno... I'm sensing that they're gonna be like The Antlers or Explosions in the Sky or something (I don't like those bands: way too serious and theatrical and fake to me. No real emotion, only melodrama...) But I'm basing that only on their name, so I could be wrong.
