My name is Rod. I enjoy all types of music. Michael MacNeil, Ian Stanley, Robbie Blunt, Chris Squire, Derek Forbes, Brian McGee, Pete Willis, and Adrian Vandenberg are some really talented musicians I think that deserve more than the music industry and their band mates ever gave them credit for. Also Kevin MacMichael and Benjamin Orr, who both have passed away, may they rest in peace and stay in our memories. They are some of my music heroes. My charts change frequently as I get tired of the same music all the time. I have invested a great deal of time building my library and 99% of the music I have was music I already had on CD such as Capercaillie. I don't listen to CDs much anymore, even though I have thousands. I do still listen to cassette tapes and I have a fair sized collection of LP albums collecting dust in a closet. Most all these songs I have added to my library on lastfm are of the songs and musicians that I have not burned out on yet. Robert Plant is one such artist, I still love to hear his songs even though I have heard them thousands of times. I have however burned out on almost all the Beatles songs and Paul. They were my favorites but all the concert programs, music books ( complete works ) and music tapes and records are in the closet to stay. I don't even care to hear the fab four for a while. I can play it all on guitar if I want to and sing so to me I like that better. One Beatles song is still a favorite titled "You Know My Name (Look Up the Number)" and it was in my library the last time I checked but the plays had all vanished, oh well, I have that song on cassette tape anyway. Led Zeppelin is another band that was a favorite. I used to have all their music on CD but I just gave it away one day. I still have all Led Zep's works on tape and record combined but I don't listen to them either anymore. My ears are very sensitive and if someone is slightly flat or sharp when they are not supposed to be then I know it. I like music that breaks the music scale into more levels than the traditional scale is. Music from the Highlands of Scotland does this by using a scale that is within the existing scale. Imagine 1/63rd of a step, something that the modern piano is not capable of. These forms of music often shape our lives without even us knowing it. They orchestrate a symphony that surrounds us in the songs of birds, nature and machine. I am not one for "new age" music. It is the only genre that turns me off. I love synthesizers and music by such artists as Michael MacNeil. I choose Clannad over Enya though. I go for real over fiction and love over hate. I am sarcastic but loving. I am a Christian. P.S. I go for substance over scale any day. If the song has an important message then I would rather audibly understand the singer even if he is out of tune than miss the words. However, early REM is a favorite and the lyrics are very clear to me while others might not think so. I think REM lost it as time has gone on. The earlier the better for REM. Now if I could only get the right version of "Gardening at night" to play.

That is me in the picture with my Hobie Cat from the '80. Want to go for a ride ? Oh wait surfs up ! Break out the Schroff. Wish I had some band photos. Perhaps I will get a picture of me with my Jackson Strat up one day, however the Martin acoustic is more my style today. The sax is in the closet along with the fiddle, other guitars and all the music. Perhaps if I set up a good recording system I will do some recording. All the works of the '80 and since are in others hands. Wish I had them. I would put them on lastfm.
