So my brief was to play the gothier/deathrock side of things at Red Room's "Gothabilly" party on Saturday while still being aware of trying to keep the dance floor full - ie whip out some Red Room crowd pleasers if things were flagging... Luckily this wasn't really necessary though I probably didn't go as obscure as I was initially planning!

Anyway, I had fun and my sets seemed to go down well. Many a happy dancer :)

The one drawback was that there were some sound issues a few songs in to my first set...

So C L O S E R re-opened last week on a Friday and in civilisation (not in Fourways) @ The Woods. Not only is The Woods closer and more central, but just a better venue all round I reckon.

My set was a bit heavy on Indie Rock From A Few Years Ago (TM), but it kept some of the punters happy. I was keen to provide a little bit for everybody! :)

So I played last night at new Joburg (well Fourways) club Closer. As the organiser is a good friend and has decent taste in music, I was told to play what I wanted rather than what than what might be expected, so it was a bit closer to what I would want to play ideally...

Not the most revolutionary set, but hey, this is Johannesburg... Ultimately I'd prefer to go more post-punk/coldwave/goth/(old school) ebm/industrial with smatterings of indie rock and 80s alternative.

Ultimately, I was just pleased to have played Nitzer Ebb :)
