Oh definitely! I have a collection of 90s rap / hip hop that I still enjoy. I got into that genre in my teen years, so much fun times! My favorite albums from that genre (in no particular order): 1) Enta Da Stage - Black Moon 2) By All Means Necessary - Boogie Down Productions 3) Uptown Saturday Night - Camp Lo 4) The Pillage - Cappadonna 5) Straight Up Sewaside - Das Efx 6) Moment of Truth - Gangstarr 7) Ironman - Ghostface Killah 8) 4, 5, 6 - Kool G Rap 9) Illadelph Halflife - The Roots 10) Dah Shinin' - Smif-N-Wessun 11) Any album by EPMD or Keith Murray I think hip-hop around the late 80s and through most of the 90s was really about storytelling more than anything else. I haven't followed the genre though since then, so I'm not at all sure what's going on there. :)

hi there. i moved to another place to live. not out of state or anything. still living in dirty hollywood. i don't wanna give some names (of bands) and leave behind some others. so yo can look up my last 1 or 3 months' charts. this summer and every summer is the worst. i hate summers. wonder you wanna move here, coz as i noticed you are also not a big fan of it. though you said coz of study. if you want, we can meet up when you move. do you know which part of the city are you going to live?

hi. i am good thanks. NY is very expensive, thats what i've heard. LA is expensive, but at the same time comparing to other places it's average. right now i am in a period of moving to another place myself. so my head has been busy. the only thing i can suggest is Craigslist. i use it to find apartments myself. but if you are not in LA and CA in general, it will be hard, as the people don't wanna deal with overstate calls and tenants. are you moving in september? about music recommendations...well it's hard, if you indicate any genre you're interested in, i can have better suggestions. or just look up my last 3 months top artists.

Peste Noire were a struggle because, unlike so many Slavic nationalists, it is so close to home for me. Famine is one of those rare incredibly talented idiot douchebags. Although I sometimes wonder how sincere and serious his politics actually are. I prefer to read it as an almost dadaist/Rabelaisian satire on modern French politics and life. We can enjoy art for its art without becoming right-wing apologists, which is why you see me arguing the point :)

Well, just how boring would life be to be sectarian? I, myself, am a media studies major....and to truly understand all facets, would I not have to dive in to all types of music for starters? Plus, all music is iteration (and re-iteration) of itself anyhow. It's all the same song, after all.

Hi again :) In Venezuela, supper tends to be a little lighter than lunch -yep, that's the "big meal"-, or just as light as breakfast. I don't like eating that much for dinner -or at least frequently I try not to- because I can't sleep very well, I feet quite vibrant. Also, I must say that soymilk isn't a drink I consume ALL the time because it's not very easy to find it here, it's an ephemeral product -sometimes it's on the shelf, sometimes it's not-. I tried to do it myself, but I really couldn't get it. By the way, I'm taking for breakfast yoghurt with wheat germ and brewer's yeast. These two ingredients have a high content of iron, protein, minerals and group B vitamins, plus many other important to consider. I put a few lemon juice drops so the vitamin C helps the organism to iron absorption. I will take into account your recommendation, it sounds quite awesome. I guess I'm gonna have to make my own almond milk, some vegan products almost don't even exist here. :-/

Über mich

I'm Thea, audiophile, turophile, bibliophile, polyglot. In simpler English, I like music, cheese, books, and speaking multiple languages, although I eat vegan most of the time now, so I deny myself cheese very often. I find that last.fm is an excellent avenue for connecting with others who are particular about what they listen to (yes, that encompasses both snobs and casual listeners). I just moved to LA and am about to start my Ph.D. in French at UCLA. I'm super-excited about that, and I am hoping to meet people from LA. If you're here on my page and you live in or around LA, drop me a line! I don't get on here as much as I did about a year and a half ago. Therefore, please do not take offense if you write to me and it takes me a long time to reply. As an adolescent, I was working toward a career in music journalism before realizing that academia was my calling, but I have not forgotten my first (vocational) love and enjoy talking to others about music. If you're sick of talking about music, you can talk to me about other topics as well, if you wish, especially about what you've been reading, experimental film and theater, cooking, comics and graphic novels, visual art, current affairs/politics/social concerns, sketch comedy, writing, swimming, playing badminton, or breakfast cereal, as these are other interests dear to me. I lived in Kansas for a long time -- over 20 years -- but I have seen most of this country and 8 countries in Europe, having studied abroad twice and traveled around west and central Europe a few times aside from that. I hope to make friends from all over the world, since I plan to travel more in the future and enjoy visiting folks in new places and getting their insights on the places they live. I am especially interested in meeting other people with disabilities, leftists, people who enjoy really bad jokes, those who are trying (and hopefully succeeding) at eating vegan or vegetarian, academics, record (that means those big 12" LPs) buyers and collectors, and people who are nerdy about at least one thing, particularly about music.
OK, mijn Nederlands is echt kak. Wanneer je me helpen wil, mijn Nederlands to verbeteren, dat's cool. Anders kunnen we Engels spreken! ;)
