Although - to refer back to the end of the longer shout - that last is really about Latvia, isn't it... but the Latvians couldn't appreciate it, 'twas left to an Estonian!

Also - the two Bobphotos you have there in the top right! Well chosen, man!

Those photos of Estonia are fantastic, thank you. I sure did love being in that crazy country of yours. I've lost count now of how many times I've told people about the evening we hung out with your friends playing music, watching videos, talking about Planet of the Apes, chilling with cats and walking back down quiet nearly-twilit streets at, like, 1AM, as a highlight of my recent life. And that was just one of several excellent days. (Speaking of telling friends about Estonia, your detail about the Tallinn-defining Right to Wifi and "Noass"/"Rusels Krovs" always go over well too.)

I'm beginning to understand what there is to enjoy about Bruce Springsteen, too. I've just been dipping around in different albums - Darkness on the Edge of Town sounded particularly good on first listen, Tunnel of Love really compelling too - but so far it's all good.

Over 46,000 plays of Dylan! Holy shit. Also, your taste in individual Dylan tracks is mind-blowing - Journey Through The Dark Heat - yes!

To be more precise, Side C hit (Most Likely... to 5 Believers), since when I went back to A and B too many songs still grated. But something about listening to Lost on the River opened up the emotion and the landscapes of that little stretch of songs, especially as they lead into the ever-glorious Sad Eyed Lady. But yeah, of course, even old favorites can stop registering after a mountainload of plays, and I'm kind of cheered to hear you say that, just like I was when you said in Tallinn that the lyrics on that album just aren't up to very much, heh.

Ever heard of the band The War on Drugs? I think their latest album Lost in The Dream might be up your ally :)

How did you like it, if you've listened to it? I purchased mine off iTunes so I listened to it tonight. I'll read your analysis of Blood on the Tracks tomorrow, given it's one of my favorite albums of all time, no doubt.

Thanks! A co-worker bought a new laptop and handed his old one off to me, hence the scrobbling restart.

I saw on Goodreads that you enjoyed The Dylanologists! Mind elaborating about what made it worthwhile?

Ah, that's a beautiful way to put it. Yes.

I've come to feel that Under the Red Sky is one of the most touching and evocative songs Bob ever wrote. I was on a Warsaw subway, having just finished a sad short book of Mo Yan's when the song entered my mind and all the warmth and sadness of it overwhelmed me, and I just started crying there in the subway car... and the connection I forged with that song and the world at that moment has stayed with me.

Hi, I usually visit all my lastfm-friends a bit closer to new year to check out what they have been listening during the last 12 months. And at the same time leave some tips on what I have discovered last year. But anyhow here I'm now.:D. Late in the year I found Caitlin Canty thru Kickstarter. Other discoveries during the year was Lake Street Dive, Austin Lucas, Nora Jane Struthers & The Party Line and Drew Holcomb & The Neighbors A band I'm looking forward to see live is JP Harris & The Tough Choices But I still come back to my old heroes Van Morrison and Emmylou Harris. Listened to almost all of their albums during 2014. Have a great 2015.

All best for the holidays to you as well, Ralf! Glad to hear that Highlands has found its way into your favor. My most recent surprisingly-sudden-enjoyment awakening is Absolutely Sweet Marie.

Über mich

The tree of life is growing
Where the spirit never dies
And the bright light of salvation shines
In dark and empty skies

When the cities are on fire
With the burning flesh of men
Just remember that death is not the end
