There are a load of artists I love, like Billy Bragg or Nick Cave, and I could listen to them all day any day. And I have a feeling growing on my soul that Kate Bush has just injected her way into this aural elite. I've never listened to a Kate Bush track ever, EVER. About 3 weeks ago, a DJ on BBC6 played "The man with the child in his eyes" and it fascinated me. What an interesting man, what an amazing songwriter!

My mate Gavin is a Kate Bush devotee, his dark queen I think he called her once. I told him about the song and he went off on a string of enthusiastic declarations about her, how she wrote it before she was 20, how one of the guys from Pink Floyd discovered her, and how I just HAD to listen to her MORE!

I put it on my sonic shopping list and downloaded the song off iTunes. Never got round to listening to anymore, and just then I found one of her albums, the whole story in someone's collection and stuck in on, and it's currently on it's 6th rotation and I don't want to stop it. I want more. How have I never heard her before? I've recognised her songs that have been covered by others, and recognised some song titles, but I just do not understand how I have skipped her songs for so many years! I blame triple j for not playing enough Kate Bush. So I need more more more! We all do!!
