The clown comes home

Reveals a frown

Nobody loves a circus clown

Laughter hides a heavy heart
Makeup covers
A multitude of sins
People surround him, but he feels so alone

They say God loves a tryer,
Does he honour the faithful?
Is there a point in trying
When you know you can't succeed?

To fight the losing battle
Or just turn and walk away?
Is there honour in living
To see another day?

You can break my body
I'll lie down in the mud
How many more times will it take
Before I just give up?

I conjour images
I believe to be real.

Why do I feel like I've been here before?
A simple case of deja vu,
Something more sinister?
Didn't think I'd see you again,
Wasn't paying attention to where I was walking.
You have a different
Clown face on this time,
But its still smiling sweetly.

You know you know you know you know you know you know
I've been over this a thousand times
With you before

But you always come back
A little more urgent
Each time,
And I swear it'll be the last.
