Say Hallelujah! - a night in Cologne

Yesterday, I was at my 4th Kaizers Orchestra gig. And maybe it was even the best!
The band was in such a good mood that it was unbelievable.

Already the opening act, Micke From Sweden, was highly amusing. His songs were really cool, but it were really his stage antics which made it so good. Chasing and shooting rats which travelled inside the piano from Holland, making it snow, tap dancing... and so on!

And then the Kaizers...
Like always, they entered the stage to Tom Waits' Russian Dance
Again, they played a highly energetic set, a really good mixture from all the albums. The only song I missed was Delikatessen, but that's mostly because it has my name in it! ;)

The crowd was really into it, responding to all the usual, but never boring, chants and shouts with the band.
So I was there, front row, singing and screaming my heart out. This band is such a blessing and I really don't want a cure against the Kaizers virus!

The setlist had some real surprise for me, like Veteranens Klage and especially, finally Evig pint...

Before playing Dieter Meyer's inst., they did a spontaneous cover of Johnny Cash's On The Road Again...

The show ended with the traditional Gypsy Finale.

They played a really long set... over 2 hours...
Janove had to be pushed and pulled from the stage by Geir and Terje... and I didn't want it to be over either, even if I was completely exhausted at the end.
Hallelujah!
Saved again!

Did Micke bring rats from Holland?. No way :). I saw him there in Haarlem together with kaizers!. They both made my evening unforgettable!

Yeah, he said they hid inside his piano after the Nijmegen gig. And he shot them on stage, the poor plastic rats... Apparently he did some tap-dancing on the merch table with Helge after the gig. Too abd I left early again. I have to learn to stay at the venue after gigs!

I am also very jealous. When will they start touring the rest of the world? I am willing to go to Norway just to see them. That is, of course, if I had the money!

I was so happy that they finally played Evig Pint! And ah, I'm sure they will, the Kaizers virus is spreading fast! Seeing them in Norway would be amazing, a friend of mine will see them there in a few days, she's crazy!

God, I wish they would come to the US. Just once. I don't care what part of the country: I'd fly/train/drive/crawl to get there! And a Johnny Cash cover? Man, after this weekend, I'm obsessed with seeing Kaizers live. Someday...someday...

Aww, I'm sure they will. They seem to have a really growing fanbase over there. :) And err... I've been told that On The Road Again is a Willie Nelson song, I know nothing about country. But he was talking about Cash before and how they used to play this song in the morning on the tourbus...

Haha...yeah, that is a Willie Nelson song. But it doesn't matter, I would still like to hear Kaizers do *any* country song. That would be awesomeness.

Can you change your middle name? If yes, I'll change mine to Delikatessen! :P Or Mowinckel... or something...
