Dear Adam, I have to admit I gave you wrong information. I thought this poem was by Yeats, it was in fact Patrick Kavanagh. Still beautiful though and here’s a great version… http://www.last.fm/music/Villagers/_/On+Raglan+Road On this track the band have the vibe of Eddie Cochran (to me). Remember Three Steps To Heaven? http://www.last.fm/music/Villagers/_/The+Pact+(I%27ll+Be+Your+Fever) I hope you enjoy them. Andrew

I loved the video as you knew I would... class! Great to hear from you and exchange ideas, yes I'm well thanks. Here's a lady who I believe is also class at the moment. She released a great album called 'Sing to the Moon' last year... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLGPxp_2EkU

I envy your proximity to 'new world places like Grenada and Texas etc. ... I guess in my turn I'm nearer to Europe and Africa. Funnily enough an African friend of mine (from Cameroun) was recently visiting his brother, who lives in Texas. He had a poor opinion of the USA on his return... said that he didn't feel safe out and about, felt less free than in the UK or Cameroun. I suppose that USA varies from place to place, and the Washington area sounds pretty good. I've never been but we get some pretty mixed messages over here.

Thanks for your shout, a long winded and circuitous way of saying HAPPY CHRISTMAS! :-D I meant to say to you "Don't you think that Rosie Flores looks like Carla from Cheers ...?" Yes I'm in a strange erratic holiday mood. One of my big seasonal favourites at the moment is http://www.last.fm/music/Tracey+Thorn/_/Maybe+This+Christmas I hope you enjoy it. Tracey Thorne is a British institution famous for her work with Anything But The Girl in the eighties and collaborations with Massive Attack, at the moment she enjoys a quiet solo career and released an autobiography earlier this year. HAPPY CHRISTMAS Adam!

Hi Adam, you’ve made me very envious… sounds like you’ve had two great nights! This is what life’s all about… living it and being entertained by a very talented lady. Johnny Cash was one of my all time favourites and I love his version this Don Gibson song. Roseanne’s version is ok too doesn’t She look like her old man? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8Gvm1tGRbU Here’s another talented lady doing justice to yet another Cash favourite, Rosie Flores is keeping the spirit of rockabilly alive in Texas today. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_6pk4R1b5M Great to hear from you!

Hi Adam, It was great to hear from you. That Neko Case gig sounds like a hoot… of course I love Neko but at the moment I’m loving Aimee Mann slightly more. Two tracks here, one from Aimee’s latest album and featuring James Mercer (of the Shins and Broken Bells). http://www.last.fm/music/Aimee+Mann/_/Living+A+Lie The other is a Jim White track featuring Aimee. http://www.last.fm/music/Jim+White/_/Static+On+The+Radio Great driving music, I listen when I’m behind the wheel… Andrew

Hi Adam, it’s a strange one having last.fm friends. We’ve never met, we don’t know what each other do or even really look like from day to day but we share something quite special… our love of music. Life’s ‘ups and downs’… All the world’s a stage, etc. etc. the rest is just ‘ups and downs’, like; my wife left me, I’ve met a new woman and she loves me, I have cancer, I won the Euro Millions Lottery … hahaha. You’re right the important thing between us is the music. I do feel that we’re friends and I miss you man, I miss your feedback, your dry humour, your musical taste etc. Keep in touch. Andrew

It's a shame that you had such a short time and that you had to work too... Reminds me of a trip to Rome on my 50th birthday. I'd just read Dan Brown's 'Angels and Demons' so I had a list of things I wanted to see... we spent the time rushing around the Colloseum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, etc. etc. Eventually we just decided we'd had enough, we sat at a pavement cafe, ordered some Peronis (local beer) and watched the world go by. Every time we ordered more beers they brought a bowl of chips and a bowl of olives. We just chilled and it turned out to be by far the best part of the holiday. You need a longer stay in Ireland next time... don't see any sights just chill... go native.

C'mon Adam spill the beans... how was Ireland? Worth the trouble? I went to North Wales (Llynn Peninsula) near the Angelsey side of the Dublin to Hollyhead ferry, so I was just across the water wondering how you got on...

It was just Lucinda, Doug Pettibone and a bass player. They were excellent and played many older hits, DP's sweet voice was a perfect foil for Lucinda but strangely they did not play one number from her latest album Saved. She courted the Welsh audience with tales of her Welsh grandfather. She rocked out and reminded me a little of Suzy Quattro.

Hello Madam! I like Vicar St & The Academy in Dublin. They're proper venues & I suppose it depends who's playing there when you visit. I'm not so familiar with the local pub music scene, but I'll check with a friend of mine who lives there & get back to you

Nice to hear from you again Adam. When entering a strange harbour it is favourable to employ a pilot who really knows the local waters. I recommend a last.fm friend of mine called pathfinderpat. Look at his webpage... The Irish scene is his world. He could line you up for some great gigs. There's a great Dublin band called the Villagers at the moment. They would be well worth seeing. Check out pathfinderpat, give him a shout. PS I am excited at the mo. Seeing Lucinda next week in a little local theatre in Aberdare. Don't miss county Kerry and killarney in particular. Let me know how you get on :-)
