For the first time, the V Festival was held in the US in Baltimore, MD. Attendance was sub-optimal, with only about 40,000 out of 60,000 tickets sold. Which is a shame because all in all it was excellent. Well, some acts sucked ass like The Killers. The sound was mushy, the show lacklustre, and the new songs didn't really move the crowd. Just cancelled my preorder of their new album. However, other acts ranged from very good such as Kasabian (the Empire tracks were rather danceable live, even though they opened at noon), Brazilian Girls, The Who, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The New Pornographers, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah to amazingly good such as The Scissor Sisters with some great stuff from Ta dah or the DJs in the dance tent (James Holden, John Digweed, …). And then there was the best life performance I've seen sofar: Go and see the Flaming Lips, you won't regret it! (Incidentally, dumping the Killers freed up money for the wonderful At War With The Mystics).
The evening was topped off with some cool drum and bass by LTJ Bukem with MC Conrad at Sonar.

Not a bad day in the musical hinterland of Maryland.
