Wow, you must listen to a lot of music! Although sadly you`ve still left out my second favourite album of the year, Sigh`s `Scenes from Hell`.

@slaytanic1 - You have a point. I shouldn't have forgotten that album. @Sentimento - Yes, there were some scattered ideas in "Omega Wave" but despite that, I find the album to be mediocre at best. And I gotta say, I think it takes a lot more than an OK album to justify the unnecessary revival of yet another long gone classic band. I remain underwhelmed.

Nice. Of course I don't agree with some of it - I found your top 10 to be... well, a big mistake ;) Blind Guardian was good as always, but compared to "Nightfall" or "A Night at the Opera" it's just miles behind. Nevermore and Immolation recorded weakest albums of their careers, and I never liked Kamelot and Enslaved ;) But still, there's a lot of albums listed here that I enjoyed this year, so well done!

Hi there. First of all thanks for the comment. Whether the new Blind Guardian is worse than its predecessors is of no consequence here - that's a 2010 chart after all. Although I can't but agree with you that "Nightfall..." will remain the strongest album from their modern period. It's just that you can't expect from a band to constantly outdo themselves. "Nightfall..." is a milestone and a classic which may never be surpassed. The new Nevermore is a bit more straightforward and mainstreamish indeed but as it turns out, even one of their weakest albums can beat the crap out of many other 2010 releases. As for Immolation - I absolutely loved "Majesty and Decay". It seemed so refreshing among the endless sea of overblown technicality and forced experimentation.

Well, it wasn't especially great year for death metal indeed. I guess only Hail Of Bullets lived up to my expectations. But I recommend you to check bands like These Are They or Nominon, they play some powerful oldschool DM! As to BG - yeah, you're completely right about irrelevance of my complaining about their new album not being up to par with "Nighfall" ;) I guess it's just that I heard some better albums this year .

Yeah, These Are They is pretty solid, I'll check Nominon out. What does your Top 3 (for example) look like?

  • Mrozikos667

Well, I'll be doing my own summary, so you're free to comment as soon as it's published :) Anyway, I guess that my Top 3 will be The Dillinger Escape Plan, Aldaaron and Ihsahn. There's bunch of other albums that could compete with those, though.

And I forgot to add that this Top may as well change very soon, as I'm desperately trying at the moment to cover all those albums I missed during the year ;)

Forbidden's Omega Wave is one of the most kickass thrash albums of the 2000s...shame it is left out.

This list just reminds me that I still have stuff to check out from this year. Ugh.

Please do not be angry, but I totally disagree. There are many "piece of shit" album on your list at the first place with the new album of the disco metal band, Blind Guardian. As I scan the list of bands, your listing contains solely and exclusively so called popular bands. Some of them plays really good musics (not too much), but most of them doesn't. To find good albums is like mining. You must mine tons of coal to find the diamonds. And if you remain in the main shaft (the mainstream of the music) you will never find the most valuable diamonds (the best musics). The best musics are always hidden from our sight and from our ears. We need good luck, or a lot of work to be find them. Cheers! Andy
