LaTavia Roberson, who formed Anjel with LeToya, has yet to release any solo material but might return to singing when she feels like it, as she stated on R&B Divas. The final member, Farrah Franklin had a few songs online, such as Hurry Please, which were quite nice. Other members of Destiny's Child at an early point are LaTavia's current Sister In Song on R&B Divas, KeKe Wyatt and former Prince protogé Tamar Davis
Like fellow superstar Beyoncé, P!nk was also part of a girl group, named Choice. Because of her superstar status, they have the profile picture to the Last FM profile of this horrible artist name (come on, how are you gonna google a group like that? and you weren't the only ones with that name). This R&B girl group worked on an album which never saw the light of day. All we have to remember that time by is one song from 1996, titled 'Key To Your Heart', featured on the Kazaam soundtrack. Fellow member Chrissy Conway went on to form yet another girl group - ZOEgirl.
Eternal was a British girlgroup who recently reunited on the TV show The Big Reunion. It's members are Kéllé Bryan, Louise, Easther Bennett and Vernie Bennett. While Louise left the group after one album and became a succesful solo star, the other ladies were less fortunate. They are however, all entitled to their solo pages here on Last FM: When Kéllé left in 1997, she released 2 singles: 'Higher Than Heaven' and 'I Wanna Know'. Her debut album, Breakfast In Bed, was however cancelled because of her medical condition. The group's lead singer Easther only released 1 solo track, a cover of the classic 'The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face'. She was also featured on a cover of Diana King's 'Shy Guy' released by Aswad. While Vernie never released any solo projects, on one of Eternal's single releases
Cleopatra was another British group. Leadsinger Cleo Higgins released the single Feelin' Like This under her first name only and has recently appeared on The Voice UK, mentored by will.i.am, performing her version of En Vogue's Don't Let Go (Love),
Speaking of them, most of En Vogue's members have released solo material at this point. Founding members Terry Ellis and Dawn Robinson have released one solo album. Meanwhile, Maxime Jones released her debut single recently, titled 'Didn't I'. Cindy Herron Braggs released 2 solo tracks, entitled 'Mean It' and 'Feel The Rain'. Rhona Bennett joined the group later, while she already her debut album which was entirely produced by Rodney Jerkins, a.k.a. Darkchild. As for Amanda Cole, who was briefly in the group, but not featured on anything but their Christmas album, i hav e yet to do research.
Toni Braxton and her sisters formed The Braxtons in 1989. Their single 'Good Life' wasn't a huge success. If it had not been for the fact they just signed TLC, Babyface might have signed them LaFace Records might have become their home. But they saw more in Toni as a solo artist. While Anita Baker could not record 'Love Shoulda Brought You Home', she suggested the demo singer, Toni, should get to release her version. The rest is a wonderful part of R&B's history. The Braxtons, Tamar Braxton, Trina Braxton and Towanda Braxton went on to release their debut album 'So Many Ways'. Traci Braxton wasn't signed to the label because of her pregnancy, but she co-wrote several songs. After this, Tamar Braxton released her first album, followed up years later by Love and War. Trina released her singles 'Party Or Go Home' and 'Game Time'. Traci is also in the studio, expected to release the song 'Last Call' in the near future. Towanda wishes to pursue acting and has never released solo music officially. As part of an earlier show, Starting Over, i recall she did record a song, but this doesn't seem to be online.
So, what might have been, had it not been for T-Boz, Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes and Chili? Left-Eye has unfortunately passed away much too young. She did release the album Supernova, and a posthumous release followed years later, Eye Legacy. T-Boz recorded a few singles: 'Touch Myself', 'My Getaway' (featured in a Rugrats movie) and more recently the track 'Champion'. Chili released several tracks but has yet to have any official releases.
Another example of a group where only 1 of the members has released solo albums so far is SWV. Coko released 3 albums while the other ladies release much during their hiatus. Taj recorded the single 'Cloudy Days', but since that artist name doesn't work out - the tag Tamara Johnson seems to work better.
Shortlived Dutch R&B/Pop group Raffish featured 2 members who found greater succes in recent years as solo artist. Sharon Doorson and Eva Simons are successful in the dance scene. Sharon scored hits with 'Fail In Love' and 'High On Your Love' from her album Killer, while Eva had singles such as 'Silly Boy' and 'I Don't Like You' and was featured onAfrojack's Take Over Control and will.i.am's 'This Is Love'
Will.i.am ofcourse brings us to Black Eyed Peas. They weren't a girl group, but just like Sharon and Eva are now a bigger succes than they were in a group, the same can be said about Fergie's group Wild Orchid.
3rd Party, a group known for originally releasing Jennifer Lopez's classic 'Waiting For Tonight' in 1997 features the wonderful Maria Christensen
Jade, best known for their hit 'Don't Walk Away' features Tonya Kelly
For a Disney Dance album, she recorded a version of the song 'So This Is Love' from the 1950 Disney Classic 'Cinderella'. Member Joi Marshall released a gospel album entitled Testimony & Praise.
Xscape featured Kandi, LaTocha Scott, Tamika Scott and Tameka "Tiny" Cottle. Kandi released 2 albums, Hey Kandi & Kandi Koated. LaTocha released Solo Flight 404 and several singles recently. Tamika Scott has 2 songs featured on soundtracks from Tyler Perry Movies: 'Greatest Gift' and 'Why Did I Get Married'. Kandi's replacement for their short lived reunion was Kiesha Miles, who under the name Kiesha Babi has a fun track titled 'Going, Going, Gone'.
Brownstone always had an ever changing third member next to Nicci Gilbert and Maxee. Nicci released a great album entitled Grown Folks Music featuring the single My Side Of The Story. Maxee released the singles 'When I Look Into Your Eyes' and years later, 'Useless'. Out of the ever changing members, Kina Cosper who was featured on the 2nd album Still Climbing was the one with the biggest carreer after the group. She released an album on Dreamworks featuring the single 'Girl From The Gutter'. Other members were Kymberli Wright, Mimi Doby, Teisha Brown and Racquel Roberts. Racquel released some independent albums.
