Hi heymistertough! I saw that you got a nice taste of music and thought that you'd maybe like our music as well. We are three girls from the forests of Sweden and we are going to record our very first album in Woodstock this summer! We have a couple of songs up that we would love if you checked out! VIDAR - Phoenix and VIDAR - Ships. Let us know what you think (it's much appreciated) and also check out our cover of 'Kathy's Song' that we got the chance to play live for Paul Simon! Love, VIDAR

For me "Uwaga! jedzie tramwaj" is some kind of psychedelic return to childhood (lyrics are about it) or it's just a synonym to 'good music' :) Really classy band, unfortunately only with one LP and few singles, but... maybe that's what makes it even more special.

  • nikus93

"Uwaga, jedzie tramwaj" means something like: "Attention! tram arrives" ;)

haha yeah i know kid a - i have the ltd book edition with the orange cover and i also have in the aeroplane over the sea but mostly listen to holland, 1945 instead of to the full album. imogen heap? i think i can't handle that voice, i'm sorry^^ and the kinks? is that the beat rock band from the sixties? i only know a few of their songs from wes anderson films.

    September 2008
  • postbellum

good to hear. i can't even remember the last concept album that i've heard. and thanks for the friend request.

    September 2008
  • postbellum

but if you were talking just about the lyrics and a connected story through the songs, forget what i've just written.^^ oh, and i'm really looking forward to see them performing the new songs live. if the sound engineers are able to mix them the right way. and one last thing: what means "i'm sold on the album"? i've never heard that expression.

    September 2008
  • postbellum

wasn't in the aeroplane over the sea even a concept album? the thing is, i didn't use some time yet to read the lyrics of dear science and the words in the songs aren't clear enough to understand for me while the music tries to do its best to misalign (i hope that's the right word) the focus away from the lyrics and also with tunde stretching or cutting words and syllables in his singing (or rapping). so it's only the music itself of which i'm saying that it's a potpourri of funk, electronic, soul, hip hop, rock, rap, etc. all mixed to form a "unity of disunity". or to simplify it: it's more like a painting of jackson pollock than one of monet. so yeah, if you need a theme (like monet for his paintings) for a cd to be an album, you're right, when you don't call it an album, but if you see it like a painting by pollock where you need all those different colors just where they are to create this whole image (album), you can look at, like forever and never will grab every facet of it.

    September 2008
  • postbellum

yeah, you're probably right. the songs are mostly loose and just songs instead of an album with eleven parts. but does this have to be a bad thing at all? i think it's the really extensive instrumentation which induces the effect of thinking of eleven different songs than instead of one album. but that's also the reason why it sounds so multifaceted and why each song's so interesting. concerning favorites, i'm not quite sure yet (fourth listening), but with halfway home, family tree, red dress, dlz and also dancing choose, which i already knew before i had the album, sound really good. and seeing now, how many songs i like yet and comparing that with RTCM, of which wolf like me (and perhaps also playhouses and blues from down here) stands over everything else, it almost seems to be a (semi) complete album with no weak tracks, but also no second wolf like me. and isn't that after all what a real album should be - a bunch of new, amazing songs without fillers and wannabe-hits?

Just a "hey!" and a response to your Bonn 'Prince' Billy shout last month. Start with "The Letting Go." Astounding. Then spin "Lay Down in the Light." Amazing pair of albums. You are spot on about the 'soul.' He has it in spades and knows how to communicate it with a word, a flash of melody, an image. Hope you like.
