So many songs were on my list, so many artists I newly discovered, I hardly could decide this week.
The weekly High Rotation playlist, consisting of 5 tunes that will be played frequently over the next 7 days:
- David Sanborn - I Believe To My Soul (Feat. Joss Stone)
- Susy Thomas - Enough Now Susy Thomas' remarkable album In the morning of 2006 fell into oblivion for some time, but as I came across the acoustic demos on her Myspace, particular this heartrending song, I fell in love with her again.
- Buddy Guy - Ain't No Sunshine (With Tracy Chapman) Buddy Guy's album Bring 'em in contains some outstanding collaborations. I include his duet with the wonderful tracy chapman here as my tribute to her.
- Caitlin Crosby - Finding Feelings Caitlin Crosby is featured on the upcoming album of william fitzsimmons "The Sparrow and the Crow". Her Myspace demos are amazing, hopefully she'll release an album soon.
- Derek Trucks Band - Key to the Highway (w/ Grace Potter on vocals) I like the rocking music of Derek Trucks (and his wife Susan tedeschi) for years. This track was recorded this year at the Waterfront Park, Burlington, VT, and the appearance of my all time favorite grace potter turns it into a jewel in my collection.
I collected 16 albums of Mr. Sanborn since I bought Promise Me the Moon in 1977. I just love how virtuous he plays his Saxophone. Featured by Ms. Joss Stone, this incredible soul singer, that I adore since she released The soul sessions at the age of seventeen.
Sorry, Sarah McLachlan's new (yes new) song "U Want Me 2" didn't make it. With only 2 new songs after a very long hiatus, I did expect something more impressive. Sarah, my beloved singer of heartrending ballads, where is your fire, the esprit. Another downgrade for the rotten hip-hop-orthography.
