Hope all is well. Had a scare last night and today. My sister's boyfriend lives in the thick of the current flood zone in Colorado. Was 24 hours before we hear from him. Jeez, weather... We're on the cusp of Fall. You should settling in for a nice upswing. I'm trying to get the jump on the slow slide down...

How's the heat and your mood "Darius"? :) I've been alternately drowning in rain and smoldering in 100 degree, 65% humidity. Ugh!! Ah well... Sounded like the sky was cracking wide open last night. The decibels were incredible. I love storms, but it was so loud, it kept me awake. Woke at 2 a.m. Hot, muggy and no electricity inside... lovely outside, but I kept getting rained on. :P Made a 7-11 run for coffee at 3 a.m., took self portraits by candlelight and tiny little LED flashlight. Was going to tell you about the late-night obsessive compulsive 7-11 clerk, but I think I'm blathering... Hope you're well... :)

Just noticed you've been listening to Mark Almond. Gives me the inclination... when I'm done listening to late 80's Talk Talk. ;D

Yikes! That's brutal weather. We're, unfortunately experiencing similar here now. :P I hear you about the darkness. I think I've told you, I get up early (versus staying up late). Lately I'm getting up in even earlier -- 4:30, 4:00. I love it. Technically still night. I get my coffee, smokes, camera and go sit outside while stars are still out (the 12 I can see) and most everything is still quiet... birds included. Don't get to work any earlier, but that's because I don't want to drag myself away from what I'm doing. Gotta say, on the weekends, I feel a visceral resentment towards the sun as the sky grows brighter. That was the upside to staying up all night and going to sleep just before the sun rose... LOL, great idea, I'd only be afraid of bureaucratic SNAFUS -- Department of Temperature Welfare & Wellbeing... they could always screw it up and you'd end up someplace worse. :P Be well and best wishes for good sleep, cool temps, long nights and bountiful creativity... :)

I agree about the magic hour of photography. I like dusk and night and the dawn twilight -- that few moments when the sky turns a little blue from black. Still, unlike you, I like the summer, but then, I like the sun. I sit next to a 10000 Lux lamp every winter morning so I don't kill myself... As for my happiness quotient... Eh... Work is brutal and I don't know that I like it anymore. I did buy a camera back in March and began shooting pretty regularly. It's helps a lot. :) The upside for you is the days will only get shorter from here on out. :D

Happy Solstice Mr. D! Hope you're having a good one. :) You probably prefer the Winter Solstice. :P

Saw you listening to Nels Cline the other day (or was that your mom?)... Used to go see Firehose and Universal Congress Of when I lived in LA (I worked with Joe Baiza). They were always playing in bars and were absolutely awesome. Anyway, Nels Cline did some playing with them. How's the mood and the weather?

Always tricky with the meds, I know. I hope it eases up... Honestly, I really love storms -- thunder and lightning are awe inspiring, not to mention, they tend to get me amped up. Because OK has quite the wind factor, an intense rainstorm can become horizontal. I kid you not. d love to photograph some semblance of a tornado or funnel cloud, not to mention the green sky, but three storm chasers were part of the 16 (or 14) killed in Friday's wind-fueled rampage, so I think I'll let that one go... Hope the cemetery jaunt was an enjoyable one. :)

Mr. D, did you know that the sky can turn GREEN when there's a tornado? I kid you not. I'm seeing it now. It's an acid green. Fascinating and horrifying. wish it wasn't so dangerous, I'd try and shoot it... How's the mood? (BTW, trying to ignore tornado sirens)

Absolutely, those are wildfires driven by wind. There's always evacuation and loss of property. It's terrible every year... You're also right about the hit & miss of tornados. The town that was really hit hard, Moore, is right next to me, 11 miles away. A woman I work with lives there and lost her house. My sister was on the road that day right behind the tornado and we were scared to death for awhile because there was no cell service. You're right about the anticipation. Good god! As soon as thunderstorms start, people's hair stands on end. Start obsessing about the weather and how it's traveling. This is the first time one of these things actually scared me, and then depressed me. I was broken hearted for all those people, especially the children. All in all, lucky and glad to have a home. Thank you for asking. :) Sorry about your photo slump and lousy meds. :( Hopefully the upswing comes before the Fall!

Firestorms out here are a worse threat than earthquakes. THOSE are our tornadoes. Annual threats, for sure. But still, they claim more property than lives typically. The tornadoes are just so hit and miss haphazard bad luck of the draw it seems. You could be living on one street and not get hit while your neighbors living one block away get wiped out. So not fair. The fear element of it, with the mounting tension of awe that spreads in everyone's minds of where it'll strike must be the worst... especially for the children. How close to all that activity were you last week? Glad you were safe!

Jeez, just wrote a bunch and lost it -- dumb LastFM! :P Yeah, tornados can be quite devastating and I agree w u re the fright factor. Chances of dying during an earthquake in a first-world country are fairly slim (like the lottery). Much better chance of having your Malibu home slide off the hills during rainy season. Never felt frightened when going through earthquakes in L.A. Probably for that reason (despite having seen "Earthquake" in Sensoround in the 70s LOL). Lot of walking wounded this week. Depressed and in shock. Roads into Moore opened ystrday and community volunteers are being shuttled in... Recent years, developed an attachment to Golden Slumbers. :) Any good photos lately?

BTW, I like the movie They Live. Saw it when it first came out at the theater and get a kick out of watching it every so often. :) You would love the weather here. It is moody as hell. Yesterday was overcast, but not too cold all day. I sat outside during lunch while it "misted" -- very light rain. Was nice. And, of course, there's the incredible thunder and lightening. Just got to watch for the tornadoes. They fine at a distance, but I don't ever want to see one up close... Sorry about the mild, steady weather. No place for emotions to live. I'll wish a storm upon you. Perhaps you'll get some relief. :) BTW, liked the Beatles' covers you were listening to the other day. Nice.

The weather here is terrifically moody. We've had some scares and the trees are the worse for wear, but so far, pretty good. BTW, three days will be sunny and ever warmer, creeping into the high 70s, then, on a dime, it's 38 degrees with a 28 degree wind chill and ice dropping from the trees. :P Never a dull moment! ;)

I absolutely LOVE those Bobby Vinton songs. I always feel a little bad that Blue Velvet can never quite be restored to its original innocence. Damn that David Lynch! :D
