My Download Festival '07 Review

Hey fuckers,

How r u?? Well, its now thursday & im still a bit tired from my massive weekend at Download!!!!!! Oh yeah… So good! Never seen so many fat, ugly, freakish people in my life (apart from Download last year!) but it is just the best weekend. Camping for 4 nites with 100,000 other people with 3 days of kick-ass music, does it get any better?!?!?!?

Here's a little review of the bands i saw (just to rub it in a bit more)

FRIDAY

* Ill Nino (8) - At the time would have given them 10, but with what i was about to see over the next few days, that would have been unfair to the other bands! But they are sick live

* Turbonegro (6) - Punkish/Hardcore, didnt see a whole lot of them, but they were pretty solid

* Megadeth (6) - Competely not my thing, and i think Dave Mustaine (singer) is a fuckin wanker, but they went down pretty well

* Velvet Revolver (9) - Awesome, awesome!! Scott Weiland is an awesome front-man and Slash, well he is Slash! Very close to a 10

* Korn (10) - Blew basically everyone else off stage. They put fuckin my chemcial romance on the main stage to headline & put Korn on the 2nd stage! Jonathon was also in hospital last year & didnt sing. So maybe they had a few points to prove, but they were probably the best all weekend! Crowd went fuckin nuts. Joey Jordison from Slipknot drummed 'cause Dave Silveria was sick

SATURDAY

* Hell Yeah = fuck yeah! (10) - Fuck these guys were good! Mudvayne singer & Vinie Paul from Pantera on the drums!! If u havent heard em yet, get the album. Off the hook! Really good live too, had their songs stuck in my head all weekend

* Bloodsimple (9) - dragged Trent into the middle of the circle pit for these guys. They were awesome. Didnt blow me away as much as last year, but they are fuckin cool. Its the singer from Vision of Disorder's new band

* As I Lay Dying (7) - these dudes were fuckin heavy - metalcore / thrash / a bit of hardcore. Had some cool breakdowns, dont really know their shit

* Machine Head (10) - AWESOME!!! M.H were soooo fuckin good! Their lastest 2 albums come across so good live. Crowd went crazy. Even better than i had hoped

* Slayer (8) - I think the singer was really, really stoned. But they were techinally unreal like always. I thought they were really good, but heaps people around the festival were disappointed

* Marilyn Manson (10) - went off! Probably put on the best show, with maybe the exception of Iron Maiden. His new album is unreal too

* Linkin Park (9 maybe a 10) - one of those bands that ive never seen b4, so i was really looking forward to it! Had a massive crowd, & we were right up the front, but so was every 16 year old girl in the UK. Think the fact there were so many teeny-boppers in the crowd put me off a little, but they are really, really good live. The new album is as fuckin mellow as hey, & they played a couple of the really soft songs which i was surprised a little by considering the crowd, but they came off really well. Good shit!

SUNDAY

* Chimaira (7) - spewing i didnt get to see more of these dudes, but i was busy gettin drunk / fuckin around outside the main arena. Sounded pretty cool, fuckin heavy!

* Papa Roach (8) - once again, pretty teener bopper crowd right up the front, and i have seen a fair few times now. Always good live, but didnt blow me away like they have b4

* Devil Driver (9) - singer from Coal Chamber's new-ish band. They were unreal last year, the mosh was fuckin psycho! This year they had on their website/myspace they wanted to make the guiness record for the biggest circle pit. It was fuckin crazy, the circle pit was at least 50-60m wide, the size of the second stage crowd basically!!! Awesome to watch!!!

* Stone Sour (10) - could be my new favourite band. Was only just gettin into them last year wen they played and they blew me away. This year they were even better. Corey (singer from Slipknot) has one of the best voices u'll hear. So versatile, can do the scream metal thing as good as as anyone, but fuck he can sing a melody as well. Had a huge crowd. Awesome, awesome!!!

* Killswitch Engage (6-7) - I know killswitch fans wont agree with me, but fuck u! But i dont really like this dudes vocals, bit fuckin 80's hair metal/gay/squealing to me, but had some cool riffs

* Evanesence (8) - was pleasantly surprised by them. Fuck this chick can sing… Heaps of dickhead "metal heads" were booing, throwing bottles & heckling her the whole time. But she told them to shut the fuck up and that they belonged here, so they can deal with it. I liked it & she is fuckin cute on stage. Definitely would kick her outta bed for farting!

* Billy Talent (9) - made the decision to pass on watchin the majority of iron maiden for this. Dont regret it. These guys r gonna be huge. Grimesy got me onto these guys last year at download. Dragged Trent & Ash to right up the front in the middle of the mosh & went loose - we owned it!!! haha! But yeah they kicked arse, check out em out if u havent heard them. Kinda like old green day / even grinspoon / unwritten law sorta rock/punk

* Iron Maiden (9) - saw the last half an hour or so of the 'mighty' Maiden!! The crowd was fuckin huge, amazing, amazing atmosphere!!! Over 100,000 people going crazy to these 45-50 year old men rockin out! They put on a really good show, guess they should have it down pat after 30 years. But it was a sight to behold seeing the crowd and the atmosphere. Still not a scratch on Metallica last year - im still gettin over that 2.5 hours of magic!
