I'm probably just as unconvinced by Ospina. Thought Szczesny played a blinder in the final though and just has a few concentration issues when [perhaps through arrogance] he gets a run of games together. As a second choice though, I think that Szczesny edges Ospina.

Ah well I pay no attention to Twitter ITKs. In fact, I tend to just wait until it is made official rather than getting my hopes up. Agreed re: Flamini-Ozil bromance. Flamini should be out the door ASAP, never was good enough. Cech would be an excellent signing (if true). I don't think that Scez progressed as much as we had hoped. Cech is coming in at the right time to hopefully fill the first team keeper spot for the next couple of years and hopefully Scez regains that desire that we saw when he first broke into the side (assuming Cech comes of course).

I can't say that I've been keeping up to date with transfers this off season. What's going on with Vidal? I saw something the other day that suggested that Ozil and Flamini are best mates. Perhaps we just keep him around now to keep Ozil happy?

Yeah and it is also great to see so many key players return to fitness. Hopefully we can avoid any further injuries and push on to challenge for the FA Cup at the very least. I've been calling for Bellerin for quite a while. I don't think that Chambers skill set is particularly suited to playing RB. I think we have found our long term RB in Bellerin.

Agreed. It feels great to have so many options available to us right now. Given that right now we are hearing about Gabriel's similarities to to Kos, we could end up with the same situation as the Vermaelen and Kos partnership that didn't really work.

It seems like since everyone is talking about Neuer, he has decided that he needs to model himself on that style of game. However, he is not as good of a "footballer" as Neuer. I just wish he would go back to basics as he has looked competent enough in the past. I think we are seeing the truth about both Mertesacker and Koscielny. Neither are great CBs, but together form a partnership that works. When they don't have the other partner there with them, they don't look anywhere near as solid as they do together. We can't be far away from seeing all of Ozil, Sanchez and Walcott on the pitch at the same time. Could be devastating. Although how do we fit our form players onto the pitch at the same time as those three (Ox, Santi and now Rosicky), given that when fit, Ramsey HAS to start and Coq looks vital right now?

I remember a few years ago when Frimpong was being talked about highly. Everyone that watched the youths consistently stated that Coq was the better talent and would make it here. He kinda lost his way the last couple of years. However, it is great to see him delivering on that promise over the last few games. Agreed about another DM though (Bielik doesn't count though). Preferably someone in the 28+ age bracket who brings experience now for the younger guys to learn from and develop. Although I'm not sure who would be best. Paulista is an interesting one. Don't know much about him but sounds promising. Arsenal do have a history of signing players and then not being able to secure a work permit, so I wouldn't guarantee that they've sorted that yet :P

I'm not sure if it is a missing Koscielny to be honest. He just doesn't look as up for it as he did last season. I think that Ox has had his bright spots. Has looked dangerous going forward on occasions. However, he is still far too inconsistent, and needs to improve on his decision making if he wants to be a regular first team starter. Maybe Wenger did drop Ramsey? He has been sitting on the bench a fair bit since his injury. At first I thought that he was just easing him back into action, but that doesn't really sound like something Wenger would do =/. I agree on dropping Cazorla too, although I'm not sure on who we would replace him with right now. We are still looking pretty thin up top. I just have to believe that there is something that Wenger knows that we don't about the situation. Personally, I thought that Sunday's game was calling for Theo being brought on as soon as we took the lead. However, that sub only happened after we went behind. I just find it hard to believe that

Having said all that, I'm not for pushing Wenger out just yet. I think he should perhaps step aside at the end of the season. But for now, I can't see how any good can come of sacking the manager in November. Right now, we need as much positivity around the club as possible.

I think Wenger is worried about the lack of pace through the centre if Chambers plays beside Mertesacker, particularly as we don't have a particularly pacey DM. Therefore, Monreal plays CB and Chambers is ahead of Bellerin in the pecking order for RB. I personally don't think that Chambers will ever be a RB though, so if that is the reasoning, would prefer for Chambers to be on the bench. I put a lot of blame for the last two performances on the players. Not too sure what is going on there, but Ramsey now seems unable to follow instructions and wants to bomb forward at every opportunity, Mertesacker has come out and said he is having trouble motivating himself at the moment, Cazorla looks woefully out of form, Ox did not put in the necessary defensive performance as cover for the struggling Chambers. Honestly, could see this coming form a mile off very early in the game.

I don't know what to say. Just too many errors over the last two games. It is apparent that Chambers is not a solution at RB. Monreal has been decent at CB, but will not be winning headers against big strikers. I bet we will see the same mistakes in two weeks time.

Alexis is generally really likeable. I think that fans would be happy with anyone that puts in as much effort as he does. But he has soo much skill to back it up, it's insane. I think his signing will prove to be more beneficial than Ozil, and I really rate Ozil. Theo's return is big. Can't wait for him to get minutes and find his form again. Santi is a strange one. He can be brilliant, and even without his shooting boots, is still very influential. He just needs to find his confidence in-front of goal quickly, because we can't afford to him to lose even more confidence. Flamteta was pointless in this game. Although I don't mind it when it seems obvious that Wenger is easing Ramsey back into action. I don't want Ramsey spending even more time on the Physio's bench this season.

The Hull City game was a strange one. I think that after we took the lead the players expected to win easily. We took the foot off the throat and let Hull back into it. The defense, particularly for that second goal was shocking. And then afterwards we looked desperate. Individual players were trying to do too much by themselves rather than trusting their teammates and thinking the goals would come. I'm not sure on where I stand on the Wenger front. I agree with a lot of what he does. Sometimes I wish that he'd be a bit more flexible with tactics, but I understand what he is trying to build here and his reasons for his rigidity. And on the players signing front, I think we can see the lessons learned from transfers such as that of Squillaci, he doesn't want to sign players that are not good enough to be at the Arsenal. It may be hard to accept when we have our annual injury crisis. But as the club moves forward, it may be the best course of action.

I quite like Hayden. But I guess it wasn't that surprising that Monreal started, given Monreal got the gametime there in preseason.

I dunno. From what people with far more inside knowledge than I do are saying, it seems like Arsenal are both aware of the issue and have taken steps to identify why we do have such problems with injuries. My understanding of the findings is that they have put it down to luck (or lack of it). I suppose it isn't all that surprising given the stature of our players and the propensity for opponents to try and kick us off the park.

It is so strange. Although I suppose the Giroud, Debuchy and Ozil injuries are understandable given the lack of break that these players have had. Although I guess it is interesting that Kos, Mertesacker, Sanchez etc have not experienced similar problems (yet). I really feel for management in this situation. Is there more that they could have done to prevent these injuries? Was it just a freak occurrence (and can it continue to be seen as so given that it seems to occur every year)? It is very frustrating as a supporter, and I always feel the need to lay the blame down at someone's feet. But I'm just not sure what more the club could do *shrugs*
