• Destroy Rock & Roll

    7. Jan. 2008, 17:17

a fine way to start the new year, with a running journal/mix tape, seeing where it takes us....

welcome to Destroy Rock & Roll, a title that sounds more like a torisgod mix tape than a bert2007 mix tape, but breaking down rock and music in general, only to build it back up is something i like to do and something I have not truly done in at least three years as of today...why today? it is cassidy's birthday. 3 years old, and a whole new life.

break down rock, build it back up, find something old, discover something new.

    destroy rock & roll.

    long live rock.

Shortly before his death, we recieve a catalogue for Back to Basic Toys. What was on the back cover? A wind up Evel Knievel motorcycle. You know the put the bike on the top of a wind up ramp, hand crank it, and push the button to release the bike, it aimed towoards the notebook cover you and your friend used as a ramp after a lot of arguing over what would be the best material for the ramp and even more how many GI Joes (full sized) and Barbis stolen from your sister's room he could jump.

I look forward to one day getting one for my daughters and explaing to them who this man was, a real American maverick hero who's winner-takes-all-and-damn-the-rest attitude was a breath of fresh air for a sagging American psyche.

For your listening pleasure ('goose 2060)
