People sometimes tell me that I have some pretty strange taste in music; I think it only an extension of my life. My life has been really crazy and traumatic at times. I guess music has been one constant that is always there to help me through it. I collect and treasure the music that represents a point in my life. It's like a history …a part of the history of my life.

I would like to add a little bit to my earlier message a couple of years ago.
Duke Ellington once said that "There is good music and bad music".
I've been doing music since I was really young. I think the music business brain washes us into thinking in 'categories'. It becomes something only you and your friends or family approves of -or else it has to go. Duke Ellington didn't mean that things should be black or white, but he wanted to emphasize that music moves you or it doesn't. You feel an emotional connection …or you feel happy or sad when you listen to a particular piece of music.
I don't give a shit what some marketing person says about them; it is not important to me. I guess a critic has a role in that he helps reconcile the mind of the listener or sway their interest. The press and the media are one thing. …The artist makes the music.
