Soundwave Sydney 2010!

Sun 21 Feb – Soundwave 2010
OKAY! finally found sometime to write up some sort of review!
Before I start I'm going to get all negativity and non act related things out of the way.
Firstly this years lining up was done so well!
Didn't have to wait at all for long and opened on 11am sharp!
18+ wrist bands were given out fast also.
Merch was once again well priced, and on that note, drinks were once again OVER priced.
Was disapointed with the lack of drinks available after 1pm and the overall lack of shade.
Phone reception was bad, so spent half the day alone, or running into people by chance.
This years layout was great! Sound could have been a bit better but nothing too bad to complain about, other than the heat which had nothing to do with the organising.
Would like to see it at another venue than Eastern Creek next year, only thing that is good about it, is that its only 5-10 mins away from home.

On to the reviews…

So I got there around 9am, gates opened bought merch and a bottle of water and headed straight over to stage three.
Got barrier and heroes for hire came on, I went to high school with a few of the guys, and was surpised that they were actually decent (I remember them playing school assemblies, not the best of bands back then) Really enjoyed their cover of teenage dirt bag, the line "I've got two tickets to New Found Glory baby" made everyone laugh, great set for a small local band!

Then out came RX Bandits, Didn't really know what to expect as I only have one release from them, Began to get into them half way through their set but was way too excited for who was up next.

SET YOUR GOALS! They came on a little late but redeemed themself STRAIGHT away, Gaia Bleeds got the whole crowd moving and within no time they were five songs in, each with more energy than the last.
Tracks included To be continued,The fallen,Summer Jam and an old favourite Goonies Never Say Die.

Next came Motion City Soundtrack, I was most excited for seeing them, I remember listening to I am The Movie when I was about 15 years old, so good to finally experience them live!
Their set was a really solid mix of very old, old, new and newest albums!
Can't remember all the songs they played off the top of my head but the keys in 'My Favourite Accident' were enough to give me the shivers! They finished with Everything Is Alright.

At this point it was time to go have some lunch and head up to stage 5 for comeback kid,
Met up with Nick and sat against the fence listening to them and then Architects.
Soon came A Wilhelm Scream! I thought they should have played more from Ruiner, But was more than pleased with what they did play, also the water hose being constantly sprayed was veeeery nice haha.

From here Nick and I walked down and caught the last of The Get Up Kids, Nice cover of Close To Me by The Cure ( :
Soon after swarms of 14 year old girls began to decend on to stage three and that could only mean one thing… All Time Low.
I walked out on their show last year, Too much screaming, Alex trying to give girls mic grabs and all that he recieved was squealing.
This time wasn't much different.
Once again talking about sex, errections and boobs. I really don't find his on stage banter one bit funny, Just disgusting that he will say all this shit to 14 year old girls just for a few hundred screams, sickens me really.
Anyway thank god they finally finished, Said bye to Nick and was alone once more.

So I was walking up to stage 5 when I saw/heard one of the funnest bands of the day, hands down,
THE AQUABATS! It was outrageous really! Punk/ska/hawiian haha no idea what it was, only that it was catchy and fun to dance to!
Ended up meeting up with Danni here hadn't seen her since high school.
Had way too much fun watching and being apart of their mosh.
No sooner had they walked off we both ran straight to the barrier on stage 5 as the almost came out on stage 6.

Sup barrier for FOUR YEAR STRONG!
okay so I like SYG more than FYS but in saying that, Four Year Strongs set was INSANE!
Cannot wait to see them tomorrow night at their sidewave.
Best pit, what seemed like endless sing alongs! Stage dives, Mic grabs, So much crowd surfing, Fun 90's covers and breakdowns!
Would have been better if the sound was a little clearer, but not complaining at all.

My night ended here.
Was going to see A Day To Remember but the crowd size was waaaaay too much.
Couldn't hear for shit as they obviously hadn't counted on a crowd this large in size.

Couldn't be bothered typing in all the links.
its nearly 1am just got home from ADTR/SYG/TIH sidewave and have FYS/AWS tomorrow haha.
