Top 10 Witch House Albums (...as of now imo)

The first time I heard witch house was Salem's King Night and I knew instantly that I loved it. The overbearing synths and modern rap beats fused sometimes with angelic vocals and haunting melodies is the perfect music for me. This is subject to change as I have in the past gone through my variable stages of genre obsession. It doesn't change the fact that right now, I love it and I can't get enough of it. I constantly check my list of sites to see what artists or albums have released or will release. I'm following it and expecting it to soon blow up in the mainstream (like dubstep) and then I'll see it everywhere, which I wouldn't really complain about making it easier to access.

There is the undefined nature of the genre. Mixing artists like Salem in with the likes of Air Tycoon (which I don't consider witch house) doesn't make much sense considering their elements are few and far between but I can understand the association. I'll say this upfront: when I look for witch house I don't look for noise, downtempo, idm, drag, hip-hop/rap, shoegaze, or dreampop. I look for all those elements combined within one another. But, I digress. This is my list, so....

(tl;dr)here's my top 10 witch house albums:

RVT$TVX - Black Garlic (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J1aJBIop81U)

Can't get enough of this album. Was released last year and it's one I play nearly everyday. He brings all the elements together in the perfect way. Not to mention, tons of catchy songs on this 9 track album. Dark, heavy and beat-ridden, I love it.

✝ DE△D VIRGIN ✝ - ✞◇✞ (http://deadvirgin.bandcamp.com/album/-)

What can I say about Dead Virgin. It's fantastic and catchy stuff. Less rap influenced beats and sometimes a faster pace of songs but man, every song this guy does is gold. Not just this album but also check out his other two. They're great!

M‡яc▲ll▲ - Season of the Witch (http://mcll.bandcamp.com/album/season-of-the-witch)

From start to finish this album is killer. It's also free, which is always great. I think I'll start repeating myself from here. These are my top three and I'll just list the rest. You already probably know the reasons why I like these albums: heavy synths, great beats, catchy songs, haunting melodies.

Salem - King Night (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwMc91DQXHU)

You're completely right. I was at least expecting a little something but it looks like it's dead more than ever. I still think there's a chance of a little movement with "horrorcore" rap kind of making a comeback but most likely not. I thought about going back and adding to this list because it probably wouldn't be the same for me now. I probably never will, haha.
