31. Aug. 2007, 20:14Mindless Faith - medication for the misinformed
Mankind Is Obsolete - trapped inside
XP8 - the art of revenge
The Birthday Massacre - walking with strangers
The Cruxshadows - birthday ep
the cruxshadows cd has a cover of white rabbit, which i am particularly interested in. i'm a huge huge fan of Collide's cover and it should be cool to hear the cruxshadows' take on it
edit so apparently the mindless faith album has been pushed back to october. gay -- that was the one i was looking forward to most. new xp8 should satisfy my burning lust for trancified ebm until then
8. Jul. 2007, 22:37in the ebm/futurepop/electro-industrial vein. i'm especially drawn to the more dance, (progressive/uplifting) trance, electropop or electrohouse type stuff. melody > noise
i'm not that bothered about vocals, but i have a soft spot for female ones :>
the last time i did this i got a shitload of recommendations and it took me like a year to get through the backlog :< so if you recommend something, can you name an album or song that's particularly noteworthy. better yet, send me some stuff yourself because it's really hard to find most of this stuff :<
ps i already know these bands so don't recommend them

5. Dez. 2006, 14:59I downloaded the first episode of Spooks (a british tv show about spies) and during the intro, this short piece of music was played.
listen to it:
I'm sure it sounds exactly like part of Wounded Warsong by Akira Yamaoka. anyone know if Akira sampled it or if it's just a coincidence?
20. Apr. 2006, 20:46People adding a bunch of artist associations to get people to read their journals. God.

1. Apr. 2006, 17:32I haven't listened to Lacuna Coil for a long time, but with the new album out soon, I thought I'd reacquaint myself with their music.
No Need to Explain - I love the atmosphere of this song, the distant guitars, the piano arpeggios, the melodic guitar solo... everything is just right. 5/5
The Secret... - I really like the catchy duet chorus. Vocals are good for the most part, but could be better. Redeemed by some nice guitar work. 4/5
This Is My Dream - Seems strange hearing Lacuna Coil start a song with a bass intro. Andrea's voice sounds pretty nice here. Anyway, a fairly mellow song that seems to drag on a bit. Not one of my favourites, but still pretty good. 3/5
Soul Into Hades - One of the best songs on the EP, purely thanks to Cristina's vocals, though Andrea's vocals leave something to be desired. 4/5
Falling - Both the vocals and the music are beautifully haunting. Best song on the EP by some distance. 5/5.
Un fantasma tra noi (A Ghost Between Us) - A pretty good instrumental song, but after the excellent Falling, this doesn't stand a chance. Also seems to drag on a bit. 3/5
A excellent CD, made all the more impressive because it's their first. 4/5
In a Reverie
Circle - I love the bridge just before the last chorus, and of course the chorus itself. Overall a very good song. 5/5
Stately Lover - Good, but unspectacular. Everything about the song says 4/5.
Honeymoon Suite - yay for another catchy duet chorus, this time with added harmonies! But for me, the bridge is the highlight of the song. Both sets of vocals are good, and so is the music. One of my personal favourites. 5/5.
My Wings - I like the music, especially the intro. The vocals could be better, but I like the growls in the chorus. 4/5
To Myself I Turned - My pathetic words cannot describe the beauty of this song. And a 5/5 wouldn't even come close to doing this masterpiece justice. It's been my favourite LC song ever since I first started listening to them a few years ago, and it seems to get better with age.
Cold - Another good, if unspectacular, song. 4/5
Reverie - See above, add two minutes. 3/5
Veins of Glass - Another average song, for the most part. Redeemed somewhat by a nice instrumental interlude (it's not really a guitar solo.. really. >_>) 4/5
Falling Again - Like Falling, except even better. 5/5
The first LC album I heard, the reason I got into them, and still my favourite album. It has some relatively weak songs, but it also has To Myself I Turned, which means an automatic 5/5.
I'll do the rest later. I'm bored.
