    I assumed so, most people seem to pidgeon hole slam to bands like Cephalotripsy and Gorevent, which while I enjoy, I can see why so many people dislike them. Slam is just a style of riffage, no more, no less. It originated with a song by Suffocation off Effigy of the Forgotten, I forget the name right now though.

    haha, that makes no sense! Slam in a sense isn`t really a genre. It`s any brutal death metal that uses slam riffs as a major part of the song. Defeated Sanity is slam. Disgorge is somewhat slam, etc. Technicality has nothing to do with being slam or not.
