No problem, thanks for the friend request :) Yeah, I agree. Being open minded to me isn't liking everything you hear - it's at least giving something a chance. Although I can say with some certainty that hip hop does nothing for me based on what I've heard so far. But you can't like everything!

Hello. Just came across you and I had to say that I agree with the philosophy that if the music works for you, it doesn't matter what genre it is. I've found that out over the last couple of years.

Afternoon! For KMFDM It's up and down. Some are better than others. You cant go wrong if you give multiple songs of theirs a try. There's a couple I really really like but for the life of me I cant place them at the moment. I first heard them on Jango internet radio. Try it on there first and you will also get to know a few other lesser knowns. ENJOY THE MUSIC!!!

That's a good philosophy. :) I can't say I love everything, but I'll certainly try everything. There's just so much great music out there, waiting to be discovered.

Thanks, your taste is great too! I spotted your post on the New Age and Ambient forum. It's not often that I find people who are so open-minded, and are willing to embrace metal, new age and other things. :)

Über mich

In the past year, I've realized something which should have been obvious to me but it never had been: music is music and what kind of music it is shouldn't matter because what's good is good. To me it doesn't matter what genre it is, if it's good, I'll like it. Again, this should have been obvious but I guess I needed to open my eyes some more to learn that. Anyway, I love music and I always turn to it when I am feeling down, when I need something to lift my spirits, and especially when I'm angry. I'm usually up for something new unless I'm caught in a kick where I can't stop listening to a certain band or song but that doesn't last forever and after that happens, I look for some new things to branch out into.
I like classical music whether it be opera, Baroque, or just piano music; I like R&B like the Supremes, Luther Vandross, and Lionel Richie; I like MC Lars, Public Enemy, and Eminem; I like Johnny Cash, George Strait, John Denver, Buddy Holly, and Elvis Presley; I like metal music like Rammstein, Type O Negative, Deathstars, Within Temptation, and Cradle of Filth; I like alternative/indie like the Cure, OMD, the Boxer Rebellion, Muse, Coldplay, Three Days Grace, and The Legendary Pink Dots; I like new age like Enigma, Jean Michel Jarre, Enya (I know she doesn't consider her music "new age"), and Mike Oldfield. [All of the above are just to name a few].
Point is, I don't care what you call it, if it's good ("Good" meaning that the artist put their heart and their soul into making the music, not just making music for the sake of making money, I can't stand that) I'll like it. Also I don't really like musical "genres", I don't know why it all can't just be music. Why it all can't just be what it is--music--and nothing more complicated than that.

I love this quote and I think Emerson hit the nail on the head with it for it is perfect:

"Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail"--Ralph Waldo Emerson
