A peek at One Direction's new album "Take Me Home"

Take Me Home is sleek ,upbeat and life affirming, though a couple of tunes hew way too closely to the conventional; yet as boy bands go, rabid fans– and their wary protectors- could end with much scarier choices from their offspring.

After placing third in the 2010 season of Britain's The X Factor, five-member boy band
One Direction secured a recording deal from industry titan Simon Cowell and launched their 2011 debut Up All Night.

A global Phenom, the album spawned a bunch of hits and moved millions of units worldwide. It additionally faired quite well with critics, who okayed the band's mix of melodic songcraft and catchy, dance-oriented tunes that, while slickly produced, prevented the industrial cynicism and grownup contemporary posturing of several of their '90s and '80s pre-runners.

Instead of messing with the proven formula, One Direction stick with this formula on the band's sophmore try, 2012's "Take Me Home".

Once more teaming to great effect with Sweden's Carl Falk, Rami Yacoub, and Savan Kotecha, who made up "Up All Night", One Direction provide another immediately memorable mix of dancey pop that optimizes the quintets's shared lead-vocal strategy and peppy, upbeat image.
