British India have done well to sell out The Zoo on a Thursday night; unsurprisingly, the crowd is comprised mostly of thirsty students. Local lads The Gallant are the first to play; it's clear that they've closely studied At The Drive In's early work, which is certainly a good thing in this reviewer's eyes.

A ridiculously long line extending down Costin Street unfortunately prevented many punters from catching the first support act of the night, Dutch singer-songwriter Lucky Fonz III. The upstairs balcony provided a prime view of the apparently legendary hokum blues artist, C.W. Stoneking. He plays in a style that channels a 1920s-era Deep South blues artist, yet he's an Australian bloke in his mid-30s. Sat 9 Jun – Karnivool, Bushido, Dead Letter Circus

I entered the Zoo just as local lads Dead Letter Circus took the stage, after missing the first support act, Bushido from Melbourne. DLC’s EP was released a couple of months ago and they've quickly established themselves as heavyweights on the Brisbane hard rock scene. I'd been enjoying their EP in the weeks prior to this show, and was keen to see how they translated to the live environment.
