You really shouldn't worry about autogoon cru. On top of the reasons John stated, only two of us (me & whiney) have posted in that thread anyway, and both of us have been receptive enough to at least give the album a try.

yeah, but that just proves my point, ie, about taking it to the thread--you have something to contribute there that most of K'naan's friends/foes haven't even considered. also, i wouldn't take the autogoon squad too seriously--most of 'em are just frustrated journalists/writers that don't know any better, after all.

hmm, now that i think of it (and to bring this back to the metal), what would a Jamie Saft dub-metal album sound like? i do hear some dubby elements re: Black Shabbiz, but would really dig it if he were to venture that-a-way more concretely next time. btw, check out Eddy's hilarious posts on the dub-metal thread, too, dudes. it's a riot. also, one of my first ilm posts ever can be found therein (oh, the shame...).

also: take it to the K'naan thread, dammit!

not to jump in the middle of y'all's conversation here (tho i will anyhow), but K'naan is like from east africa--birthplace of Halie Selassie I (Jah), and home of the fabled Mt. Zion--and sorta prone to venture Rasta-wise surely. you guys get that Rastafarianism is basically (well, kinda) the old testament made manifest (as far as Rasta's are concerned, that is). so it doesn't seem like much of a stretch that he'd drop old testament/Jewish doctrine left, right and center, ya know. <= grossly oversimplifying here, btw.;^)

Yeah, I don't know how much I'd get out of the new Dream album on first impression if I hadn't spent a lot of time with his debut and gotten a good impression of how he works. One major thing about him is that his seems tremendously unsubtle on the surface, but that surface masks a lot of interesting stuff going on that takes a bit of teasing to bring to the surface. But I'd check out his first album. I think the rave reviews for the new one are at least partially out of desire to compensate for overlooking Love/Hate.
