  • new last.fm letdown...

    17. Jul. 2008, 18:39

I have to say that I usually don't bother any design changes, nor do I care much about colors etc., but in this case, I just find the new design horrible!

It's just all so scattered, cheap, ugly colors everywhere (what the hell is up with this ugly red, it's nowhere near the usual last.fm red).

The shoutboxes are hidden well on the bottom of the start page, so at least you don't see right away if someone has told you something quick... but seriously...

I don't give a shit about the new integrated player, I use the external player anyway, it's easier to use and more compatible than that flash-crap.

I wish people would just keep a simple, user-friendly design, stick with it, get some recognized that way and add features instead of new looks.

Now we have the ability to play full songs on demand, but we still don't have the multiple tag radio back! Back when it was removed, I heard something about music industry complaining about it that it would enable people to almost play songs too specifically or something... but now we can play almost any song arbitrarily, but the multiple tag/artist radio is still gone! :-( What the hell???

Edit: Oh, and btw: the "Groups to Post to:" feature is broken! It picks the wrong group, not the one that I select, but the one before that... my guess is a classic off-by-one error...
  • Soft Cell

    9. Apr. 2007, 0:32

I'm quite obsessed with this first Soft Cell album right now: Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret

It's dark, but fun, simple, but still interesting after many listenings...

Made me look for more , I came up with some albums by Gary Numan, but I don't know if I am still missing some big name... (of course I already also listen to Depeche Mode etc.
  • Is there any [song better than] Life On Mars?

    3. Feb. 2007, 12:12

This song is so great, it's by far my favorite song right now: Life On Mars?

I found it on the corresponding album Hunky Dory, has other great songs there, just listen to it...

It also fits my current mood: most things are exiting, fresh, new, surreal and surprising. Oh, and generally quite good... :-)

Btw: the fact that this song is also on the soundtrack of one of my favorite movies, helps obviously. I'm speaking of "The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou", a Wes Anderson Movie, starring many great actors, like Bill Murray, Owen Willson and Jeff Goldblum...
  • I love the new player

This "multiple artists radio" feature is really great.

    In other news:

    * I rediscovered how great Nirvana are for the n-th time...
    * someone suggested Gene Pitney to me, a quite interesting artist from the who I never heard of before
  • Rock am Ring live on MTV

    4. Jun. 2006, 23:24

I just watched the Depeche Mode live concert on MTV Rock am Ring.

It was the first time I saw anything about Depeche Mode live and I have to say that I loved it, although they could have played more tracks from the first album like... New Life ;-)

Also I watched Metallica yesterday and Franz Ferdinand, Placebo, Kaiser Chiefs and Sportfreunde Stiller, they were all interesting, a very good line-up in my opinion. :-)
