I stole this from veruca_salt11 who stole it from godsavegravy =P

Anyway, you can calculate how mainstream you are and this is how you do it:

Take the top 10 artists you've played overall and check how many who listens to them. Add them up and divide by 10 to get the average number.
Finally compare it to the top 10 on the whole site and you find out how average yo are =D

Mine is this:

the top 10:
1. ムック - 9,257
2. The Yellow Monkey - 2,298
3. GLAY - 13,026
4. X Japan - 16,438
5. LUNA SEA - 9,999
5. THE BACK HORN - 4,194
5. ウルフルズ - 2,922
8. DIR EN GREY - 23,384
8. Mr.Children - 10,669
8. ナイトメア - 4,914

Added up this becomes 97,101 and divided by 10 makes 9,710.1

The top 10 on the whole site is this:
1. Radiohead - 317,924
2. The Beatles - 351,097
3. Coldplay - 224,031
4. Red Hot Chili Peppers - 230,086
5. Death Cab for Cutie - 273,383
6. Green Day - 180,286
7. System of a Down - 256,719
8. Gorillaz - 122,287
9. Nirvana - 151,301
10. Metallica - 186,968

Added up: 2,294,082 and divided: 229,408.2

The final step is to divide my number with the site average:
9,710.1 / 229,408.2 = 0,0423

That makes me 4.2 % mainstream =D

A band being popular or mainstream doesn't affect how talented the band is or how good the music is, tbh I've allways found the people whog obsess about whether a band are mainstream or not listen to the most obvious artists, mainly a bunch of bands that just havn't made it, and will never make it, because their not good enough. However some bands who aren't mainstream are really good..and those bands I'll listen to..but whether a band is popular or not doesn't bother me..if the musics good..I'll listen to it.
