30. Jul. 2006, 15:28In short, it was really really really good and really really really hot outside. I saw Chin Up Chin Up, Man Man, Band of Horses, Ted Leo, The Futureheads and The Silver Jews. Out of all of the performances, I thought that The Futureheads were my favorite because they were simply the most entertaining to watch, althought Man Man did throw feathers... Band of Horses doesnt have that great of a live show, but their music is fantastic and they sound pretty good live.
I went on a teeshirt hunt to find band shirts in the giant merch tent that was set up. I couldnt find anything there so i asked one of the staff working at the festival and they said i should keep looking in there. I gave up and settled for a subpop pitchfork shirt and walked out of the tent to discover a seperate booth selling the band shirts...
If you didnt go this year, you should definetly check out this festival next year. I was at the one last year and it just keeps getting better and better.
Going again today and Lollapalooza next weekend.
25. Jul. 2006, 14:43i saw Someone Somone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin, Apollo Sunshine, and The Starlight Mints. It was really great for $5. i wish that SSLYBY had a longer set, but it was still good.
Also, i saw what i would describe as a twisted iPod commercial dancing around the streets. A tall asian man dressed in a very nice pink dress with a flower print on it with a crossing guard vest ontop on it shakin it down the street with his iPod headphones on. it was sorta funny for a min or so, but he was really just obnoxious trying to get attention. i think it may have scarred Sam for life
