Hello everybody,especially my good old Indie Poison mates :)
I would like to present to you this incredible mixtape that i constructed just now :)
mostly it consists of folk song,but also i have thrown in one post-punk song,a bunch of psych rock tunes and one post-rock :) but overall it's a FOLK MIX :)
I would aprecciate the listening and the review of my mixtape :)
Here is the lineup :
1) PINK REASON- MOTHERFUCKER
I really really fucking love this band,although they only have 1 EP :) 4 out of 6 songs are mad, so give em a go!
This song 'Motherfucker' is an psych-alt-country tune. What is so great about it,is the acoustic guitar power and the vocals. And i really don't know any similar artists to this band
2) BLANK DOGS - WATER INTO ICE
Another ass kicking,under the radar band. This outfit plays some experimental meets lo-fi meets post-punk music :) they are also tagged as 'SHITGAZE'. I wonder what that means? :)
This track sound like a 70's shitty recorded post-punk song :) Also,no band to compare with :) This track is a calm one,but some intense guitar solos :)
3) FRENCH QUARTER - IN JUNE
New band discovery mayhem continues :) I present to you a wizz kid at the age of 19 who plays some real great indie folk,lo-fi music :)
The Zack Condon № 2,but much more underrated :) This sog is a good opener,you will beg me for more,cause damn, the kid makes magic with his guitar :)
4) EVANGELISTA - THE BLUE ROOM
Go go go new artists :) 'Evnagelista' happens to be the name of the dark dark and insane album of Carla Bozulich,who is the singer in this group :)
Evangelista is different from Carla Bozulich, the songs are much brighter,more easy to listen,but still the album features some dark psych shit :)
This song is very good,nothing much experimental,a magical song with some Espers twist :)
5) TAPES 'n TAPES- SAY BACK SOMETHING
Haha, i remember posting a thread that i hated this band, and immediately i got flamed by some 10-15 people :) Now i wrote in the band's shoutbox the following : 'Actually,the band is pretty shite' :)
And guess what?? No one even punched me back, only some girl after 10 days wrote : ' Actually,They're Hot' :)
Well i must say yeah,the new LP is tight,very good effort :)
So i picked this gooody goody tune of theirs, which is an example of USA indie pop,reminds me of Band Of Horses!
6) iLIKETRAINS - STAINLESS STEEL
I have talked much about this band in the past,and i have returned to them recently, gave em another good,thoroughly listen :) and discovered that they had much more in em :)
Just listen to the lyrics, they are sooooo pure,so thought provoking :) check it :
' Please don't go into the kitchen,that's where the knives are' :)
or: 'I was sleeping out there,tonight,where you once slwpt with her'! sooooo spooky and powerful :) the immense lyrics are accomponized by nostalgic post-rock music :)
I'll give this track a 10/10 :) it's for the win
7) CHINAWOMAN - I'LL BE YOUR WOMAN
Out of all the artists,presented in the mixtape,this one is theee most loved by me :) so much talant,so much honesty in their music :) Such honesty,social stress and geniality i found in only some of the BRIGHT EYES's tracks
Chinawoman are a lo-fi,no wave,folk artists!They are russians,americanized russians by the way!
I chose this song,just to show that simplicity is the second sister of talent :) Simple music,but soooo perfect :)
CHINAWOMAN's album is my top 3 of 2008 by now, and i think it will stay there :)
8) WARMER MILKS - STEADY SHEETS
Uhmmmm,under the radar artist number 6!Although,Warmer Milks have 2 lps right :) they are considered to be a psychedelic outfit,but they play some really good acoustic songs but a bit of psychedel :)
This songs is the most worthiest from their new LP :) The song is similar to BLACK MOUNTAIN's music repertuar, so all you stoner and psychedelic rock fans, goooo get it :)
This song rocks!!!
9) OLD TIME RELIJUN - WILD HARVEST
One of my favourite discovered bands, they have many LP's,but i haven't heard that people talk about em a lot. This band has it all,they are psych, they have the drive,the funk.
So they are very unique :) This song is very funky,sounds like a a bunch of demons,making a sacrifice :) creepy,but funky stuff :)
What i really love bout the band,is the stand up bass, it's so cool :)
10) BONNIE PRINCE BILLY - I GAVE YOU
It all started when i saw the video for this song,i have to admit,it was a tear shedding experience :) reminds me of the movie 'BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN',the movie about gay love :)
I am not keen on Bonnie Princes's songs,really don't know why,but i didn't take time to listen to his stuff :)
Please anybody, reccomend some other Bonnie's music which is as heart ripping as this one :)

11) BLACK MOUNTAIN - QUEENS WILL PLAY
Yes,fuck yes, fucking yes :) So far,so good, my №1 album of 2008! I am very glad that i discovered this band :)
Psychedelic rock from Canada,it's so qualitative, so intense. Wanna give huge respect to the female singer, she is the cherry on the dark music cake that represents BLACK MOUNTAIN :)
They are much better than DEAD MEADOWN and other stoner rock/psychedelic outfits :)
Queens will play is a terrific effort, it's so spooky,so dark, it gives you the creeps,and it ends with some heavy rockin' mayhem :)
12) BOB DYLAN - BALLAD OF A THIN MAN
If you haven't seen the great indie movie about Bob Dylan,called 'I'm Not There' then you are nothing :)
Bob has many versions of this epic song, but i chose the one from the movie,where he plays with his band :) It's much more interesting, much funky,much electric :)
I simply adore the piano play by Bob,he's a master of music :) This song has that 60's pop band feel, so all you BEATLES and etc etc band fans, tune in to this tune!
13) ELECTRICITY IN OUR HOMES - WE DON'T NEED HONESTY
Here you have, garage punk and post-punk music in one piece :) This band is not for everybody, so you might like it,or just flame me for this crappy track :)
anyway i like it,some really good,fast, bass driven,english accent post-punk! The song is short,but it is enough to fell the power :) shortness is the first sister of talent :)
14) LOW - SANDINISTA
What a fool i was, when i ignored LOW, i thought that the band is just a medium crappy US band like THE HOLD STEADY, YO LA TENGO :)
Their album,' DRUMS AND GUNS' is probably number 2 or 3 in 2008,not minding the fact that they released it in december of 2007 :)
I simply love every song in this album, it's so good,so stable :) It's as good as CHINAWOMAN's, but it's slowcore, i must say i never listened to that music, but it is just a GEM.
Low's slowcore is like a stab in the heart :) the song are full of fear,tragedy,honesty :)
just listen to the lyrics :
'Where,would you go,if the gun fell in your hand?home to the kids,or to sympathetic friends? :)'
Realise the tragedy,the pressure of this song :) soo amazing what Low can do just by using a couple of low budget instruments and their voices :)
They remind me of The Dears, but are they way better :)
