Fantasy festival is a bit like fantasy formula one or fantasy football. You select a festival lineup within a given budget and then score points for each time someone one lastfm plays a song by someone in your line up - the more plays the more points, and points mean prizes (at least that's how I think it works)!

ooh Summer! Now there is a thought! We finally got up the enthusiasm yesterday to tackle the garden for the first time this year - got the machetes out to tame the lawn, etc so hoping we'll be able to make the most of any summer now! Speaking of which I'm having a laundry frenzy to get it out on the line today. How domesticated! So I see you're off to see I Am Kloot - it says a solo show so is it 1 man's band, if that makes sense? I saw them in Dec 2001, I think, supporting Travis at City Hall, Newcastle. I wish I could remember more about them really but I wasn't as musically "attuned" then as I am now. They have cropped up on the odd compilation I've got though...

Oh yes, it was 'I Will Possess Your Heart' that brought them to my attention recently! Shall follow advice on albums accordingly. I've heard of The Postal Service and often confuse their name for The Radio Dept. when I can't remember the latter's name! hee hee Twas lovely over Lancaster way although other half did get a bit soggy at the football! Had a lovely day on the Saturday being really touristy and driving about the Lakes up to Keswick - really fab weather! :) Did you make the most of it too?

You're off to the same ORiver gig as us! nifty :D Also tell me more about Death Cab...I'm trying to get into them - have heard latest Narrow Stairs but large back catalogue so pointers appreciated :) As for Decemberists, I heard their latest single on the radio this morning and it sounded rather like The Young Knives which I found interesting... How's life in Lancaster? Over that area tomorrow :)

Hiya :) Thanks for the gig venue change tip off - where is this "The Storey Institute" anyhow? Is this some where else in Lancaster? So are you a student there then? I was at the uni for a couple of terms (was in Pendle college) but left to go to Newcastle instead. Anyhow, that was years ago and I'm quite out of touch with the place now! Do you still have trips to "the Carleton"? hee hee anyhow, enough rambling from me for now... ;)

A ha, then you will have deduced that i have a Creative Zen (which has been collecting dust for about 4 years as I never seem to have use for a mobile mp3 player!). So are you Lancaster way i take it? I'm from Kendal originally (until i did that go to uni and never really come back thing!). Music at Lancaster used to just be at Morecambe Platform so I was interested to see Lancaster Library crop up as a venue on here. What's it like? I've joined the Facebook group for the "music into libraries" thing so if there is something on that way when visiting mes parents, i can go hopefully! T'other half is quite interested in seeing Kristen Hersh i think... :)

Thanks for the update. Good to hear the gig was good, even if the album requires more time. I also enjoyed your blog posting about Elbow. Cast of Thousands was also my way into them. I saw them in Newcastle a couple of years ago following the release of Leaders... Guy Garvey has a show on BBC 6music, 10pm, Sundays which is always very good.
