Whether due to the steady culmination of a cult following, fan pressure, snaky cashgrabs (*cough, cough, Pestilence, cough*), or simply the will to show the new kids on the block how it's done, waves and waves metalbands have been reforming left and right over the last few years, doing tours, releasing new material (for good or bad), and generally kicking ass. This journal is a little tool I'm going to use to keep track of who's back together, and who (in my opinion) still needs to get their ass in gear.

If you think I'm missing something please leave a comment.

Their original lineup sans their old drummer are working on a project named Hallowcore. Should be awesome as fuck.

Though Hallowcore sounds like an ICPish group name, I want to hear it.

Oh man, some awesome stuff I didn't know about. And I'm backing a lot of the ones you think should get back together, hard. :D If you didn't know though, Ripping Corpse is pretty much Dim Mak now except more streamlined, at least on the album I heard: Knives of Ice.

Except Dim Mak doesn't have Erik Rutan, which sucks to the max. I'd at least like to see Ripping Corpse reform to flesh out their unreleased album and give it a proper release, because even as an unfinished instrumental album it rules.

Yob have reunited and Burning Witch really need too. I heard that Micheal Gira might reform Swans and Godflesh, I think, have because they're meant to be playing Hellfest next year.

Well that sucks. ): Autopsy and Gorguts need to do tour Europe though, I don't want MDF to get all the good stuff.

And I don't know how far you count in 'the past few years', but Rigor Mortis reunited in 2005.

"one of the member's of Morbid Saint said that Hallowcore will be different, it isn't going to be another Morbid Saint." Any clue as to what Hallowcore will actually be playing?

MORBID SAINT IS BACK?!(2) It's also good to see Blind Illusion reformed too. I don't think Vio-Lence is going to do any new material. I think they even said so on their website.

AND ATHEIST...I can't wait for their new album.

    What about Decapitated and Godflesh?

  • DemonCashew

"Except Dim Mak doesn't have Erik Rutan" meh, doesn't seem like that big of a deal to me since Dim Mak pretty much seems like the same band(on that one album I heard). It's all about Shaune Kelley.

No Carcass? Though I don't know how much they are active since they do like one show a year. = /
