That dialogue & music is a tearjerker for sure. Hands down one of my favorite scenes ever. (the dove flying above some random ass building on the original cut is puzzinlg and somewhat funny out of context tho) the complex, frail and transitory nature of life at its best. . "It's too bad she won't live! But then again, who does?"

Oh, no problem! I totally get it. I wouldn't wanna do a write-up of my favorite albums for someone either... it does seem like a pretty daunting task! Haha, well I can't say I blame you for not finishing Twin Peaks. I always get sad when things come to an end, not sure if your anxiety about endings is similar, but I definitely understand leaving something hanging rather than letting it finish. It's like, if I never watch the last episode of a TV show, then it lives forever. But if I see how it ends, then it dies. I dunno. You're not missing too much if you never finish TP, though! Not that the last few episodes weren't good (I certainly enjoyed them), but the plot was sort of muddled and largely irrelevant to what the show had originally been about (Laura Palmer's death). Glad to hear you finally think you've grasped Tomorrow's Harvest! I haven't listened to much BoC lately but I'll have to start again. And no worries--you definitely didn't come off as a jerk! ^__^

I randomly saw your post on the dubstep genre page, you should try clubroot, young echo, wen, or margin's music by Dusk + Blackdown (my favorite). I think you're mostly talking about brostep, popularized by skrillex, which is a pretty insular and gimmicky.

Ahhhhh, okay. I actually had to turn on the episode just to watch the scene you're referring to with Audrey and Ben, but I definitely remember it now. Great stuff!! I think if you finish the rest of season two, you will find that Ben becomes an increasingly vulnerable character. I do love how clever Audrey was in regards to that entire situation, though, and that she was able to show Ben he's not as cunning and mighty as he thinks he is. I definitely agree with you on Coop. He's one of the most likable characters from any TV series I've ever watched. I'll be interested to see if your opinion on him changes over the course of the second half of season two. There seems to be controversy among fans regarding some of Cooper's actions. However, if you watch through and don't notice anything, I'll be happy to fill you in! And okay, I look forward to hearing your analyses on those albums. By the way, since you like Twin Peaks, have you seen any of David Lynch's other works?

Hmm... I haven't given it much thought, but I wouldn't think the battle between good and evil is the theme of Geogaddi! Honestly, I have no idea what I would believe is the major theme of that record, so I'd like to hear your thoughts on that. And how do you know that about The Campfire Headphase?!--not saying that in an accusatory way, but I'm just wondering how you gathered that he's tripping out before an event in his life that's going to occur on Monday. That just seems so random! Mmm, I definitely agree with you. I love the layering on The Campfire Headphase songs. I notice something new on every song each time I listen to that record, and they do have a lot of depth. I really like BoC's focus on nature within their albums. It's really interesting, and it's also interesting to think about the myriad places from which they draw the samples that they use. Like the bird chirping on "Rue the Whirl"... it's awesome.

The show meanders a LITTLE bit after the murderer's reveal, as if they were trying to come up with new plots but couldn't solidify any ideas. However, I really enjoy what they did with the series even after the "big mystery" was solved. Maybe I'm easy to satisfy--I don't know. That's true; I think knowing who killed Laura before watching the show had the same effect on me. It made me more captivated by the series and examine every character more closely so I could focus on their development and see how the writers tried to frame different people for her death in the beginning. And then watching all the clues come out and the plot unravel--perfect. Haha I couldn't tell if you were referring to Audrey and Ben or Audrey and Cooper, but I'm assuming the latter...? I haven't watched the series through in a few months, so you're going to have to elaborate on her turning the screws on him! I'm drawing a blank when thinking about what you could be talking about in that regard.

And I also feel like Twin Peaks had reserved a spot for me, and that the show had just been waiting all of those years for me to watch it. Wow, I find BoC's use of samples fascinating, but I haven't delved too much into analyses of their songs. I think I'm going to have to do so, though. "Nothing is Real" had been my favorite off of the album until recently when I listened to Tomorrow's Harvest again and "Come to Dust" really hit me, so it's interesting that you cited that song as the highlight of the album for you! I love your thoughts on the theme of the record!! I definitely caught onto the post-apocalyptic vibe, but I like how in-depth you've gotten with it. It's strange when I listen to all of their records in a single day and notice how drastically different Tomorrow's Harvest is from the others (at least in my opinion), and yet, it works incredibly well. I marvel at the amount of emotion evoked in their music even without having intelligible lyrics.

Please, please finish the series! I noticed no real decline in the quality of the show after the murderer's reveal. I was so enthralled by Twin Peaks that I actually finished the whole series in about two days on my first go-around. I powered through episode after episode because I couldn't get enough. I definitely concur with everything you said, haha. I always loved the dialogue of the show and would often find myself with a stupid grin on my face because of how funny or clever I thought a certain scene was. Funnily enough, I actually spoiled Laura's killer for myself by looking it up online as I was about five minutes into the pilot episode, but it didn't even seem to matter. I wanted to understand how and why, and it all unfolded so perfectly throughout the series that there was no way I could stop watching even if I wanted to. And honestly, part of the reason I think I loved the show so much is because it was total eye candy. I mean, all of the actors are gorgeous!

Haha thanks! Resetting is not for the faint of heart, but I was preoccupied with the idea for some time. I finally found the strength to do it. Also, I agree with what you wrote in your about me section, about the two different types of music fans. Hopefully, I belong to the first half.

You definitely picked an awesome one! The shots of the stoplight always gave me the heebie-jeebies... but in a good way. Because, you know, everything about Twin Peaks is good. Even when it's bad. Thank you! You have magnificent taste as well! I see you're a big Boards of Canada fan. What did you think of Tomorrow's Harvest?

Über mich

I am a fan of all good music given the chance. I think that just listening to popular music or only one genre (be it Classical, Metal or Pop) deprives you of enjoying a vast amount of wonderful material. Regardless of how popular an artist is, I usually find that the tracks that resonate most with me are under-rated, unpopular or appear in albums that don't have as much exposure.

I believe there are two types of music fans; ones that take music seriously and appreciate it as an artistic medium and those that think of it as nothing more than background music and are drawn in by catchy hooks and the cult of personality behind artists as portrayed in popular media. Unfortunately much of the mainstream music released today is written for the latter group.

And now, one very important thought...

It would be wise to remember that the same people who'd put you down for liking a particular genre of entertainment may be back next year to complain about a book, or even a TV program that they don't think is hip enough and call you an anime fag for it. If you can be guilt tripped into what you see or read, then it follows that you can guilt tripped into what to say or think.
