LINE:
I was pretty damn excited that I made it on time, because just as the show started, the lady who introduced the bands let us know that there was still a very long line, stretching around the museum building waiting to get in. Of course, the place was packed to full capacity.
AUTOLUX:
I have loved Autolux for a long time now, and this was an exciting chance for me, since they dont seem to come around S. Carolina or anywhere nearby.
I dont know how many people there were familiar with Autolux, but those that were seemed to gather great disappointment.The band started off with well over 15 minutes of plain noise, -no vocals, consisting of only few rhythms and beats. When they would introduce a beat, we got excited and thought they were going to finally start a song. The band didnt play a single song from Future Perfect. []
I think that most of the people there werent aware that the point of the show was to coincide with the "Oceans exhibit" so listening to Autolux really pissed people off, since most of them didnt know that the noise was supposed to correlate with a dreamscape of an underwater presense.
Although I wish Autolux played something..anything from future perfect..i was glad enough to see them live.
If i were one of you who is judging autolux's sound by this particular show, , i would suggest going to a regular event where they will actually play something of their own. Because this band is spectacular.
DEERHOOF:
Yippeeee..this was my second time seeing Deerhoof, and boy oh boy was it just as good. Although more crowded. Speaking of crowds, I knew that the crowd enjoyed this show because i could see people around me and in front of me dancing..but the main problem with any movement (in reference to the previous review).there was simply no ROOOOM!! to dance… but all went well…i tried to request gigadance as an encore and other people followed my request but instead…..
SURPRISE!!:
busdriver came out and performed a joint song with deerhoof. I was already somewhat let down that i didnt get to see busdriver with cocorosie last month since the neaby show was cancelled, but it was a very pleasant surprise..he is short btw. almost as short as the deerhoof gal..
i talked to the guitarist of deerhoof for a pretty minute or two, then got a pic with him and the gal.
most crowded and sweatiest show ive ever been too.
