Check out of Montreal tomorrow! They may not be your style but they put on a great live show. You got me hooked on Bombino haha, let me know how it is live if you catch it!

Did you watch King Gizzard by chance? Been feeling their new album. Tomorrow has a pretty baller lineup. Did you end up camping there?

My friends bailed on me for Psych Fest! You gotta let me know how it is! Extremely jealous.

Well, like most careers, you go to where the jobs are. The problem with libraries is that there aren't many jobs (plus a slew of other issues.) And you are right about the "selling" your degree aspect, but it's more than just that; the degree, knowledge, experience, etc. are all just tools that an individual needs to know how to use in order to be successful. That's very annoying. We should all just have skill bars like in the Sims, ha ha. Amazing that you met M-A. I really doubt the-N expected their users to ever actually interact with their moderators in real life. Oh, and I had a feral druid on Llane. You have made me miss WoW terribly over the last day or so. Warsong Gulch all day, erry day.

Fortunately(?), I am only involved in the most rudimentary, dumb bullshit at my oil & gas job, but I'd still rather not be involved. Library jobs are low-key, as well as low-paying, haha, and I am even lucky to work in a very rich area. I probably would have gone to school for library science if everyone on planet earth hadn't been saying that it's a terrible, terrible idea right now. Ha, The-M-A had the benefit of being able to see all your posts, not just the ones that they let through. And about school, that does sound like a neat plan, and even if it isn't feasible right now, it's rarely gets to be "too late" to do something if you have the proper motivation (unless you've already sunk a lot of money into some other degree and are very lazy, both of which apply to me, hmm haha...) My bf is studying physics, but he's planned his classes to be very flexible for steering down another path if he changes his mind, which is quite possible.

I don't know what to do with my life, haha. Right now I am working part-time at an oil & gas company, but it's a dumb job and I'd prefer not to work in this industry. I also work in a public library, but it's not related to my studies and there isn't really any possibility of advancement. Sounds like you are a Renaissance man of the office job! The open secret that no one wants to admit out loud is that for most people, 90% of school is bullshit. So don't feel too bad about it. Plus, it's not impossible to go back. My boyfriend just started his first semester again this year after dropping out years ago. I think you had agreed about the Beatles. Also, too bad you are no longer a conservative, 'cause now you don't get to be my favorite something anymore! You have been downgraded to "just a guy." :D If we talked at all with that other account, it would have been political, so it's probably best forgotten. And I expect nothing more than dumbness from Twitter.

Anyway, I am getting a 2-year Master's in Geographic Information Systems, and my undergrad degree was in Environmental Science. I am almost done, but I never realized senioritis could reach the levels I've currently brought it to. What does your company do? There was a sort of crappy-yet-perfect simplicity to The-N's web of message boards. The closest I use now is reddit, but I have a love/hate relationship with it. I am a twitter addict, though, so I might have to follow you there :P

Hmm, well, I never hated you. You were always my favorite conservative! Haha. (By the way, my brother reminded me that I also had another name I used way back in the day: bobwronski, which became b4wronski when that one was banned. These might ring a bell, if not, don't worry about it.) I remember that "guide" but I am not sure I contributed to it or not. I was never one to start to topics; I mostly added to existing threads. I think the only one I ever started was about trains in music. I do remember talking to you a bit more now, though, now that I think hard about it- one time on a controversial thread about whether the Beatles are overrated (I leaned toward yes) and once I remember telling you that popular music operates by positive feedback loops, while indie music operates by negative feedback loops, hahaha. I am almost out of characters because I like to blather so I will post this shout for now...

Haha, I am not offended if you don't remember me. It was a very long time ago. Apparently our tastes are not that similar, so who knows if we even spoke directly to each other on the music board. I suppose it doesn't really matter that much. As far as what I am up to, right now I am finishing my last semester of school, working, looking for a real job, and all that other crap adults are supposed to do. Now you really are making me miss the days of the-n, haha. How about you?

Incidentally, I've been contacted by another the-n user on here before. I really don't remember having that much of an e-presence during my message board renaissance, but apparently my name sticks out.

Holy shit, yes, and I think you don't even know... well, yes, I was on the-n as vickevlar around '08-09, and I mostly used the music boards. I definitely remember you from there. But the reason I was on the site at that point was because my brother inspired me to revisit it in a weird bout of nostalgia-turned-serious, because we mostly used the site over a decade ago, especially the Current Events board. And that's where I really remember you from, not just because you were a staple of the board, but because we had many (very dumb) debates. My name back then was boatyboat. Ahh, the good ol' days of the 2004 election. I am extremely embarrassed of whatever I said back then, although sadly, I have yet to give up partisan hackery. I can't wait to tell my brother that you sent me a message; you may remember him as well. His usernames were Relinquo1 and ZapRoffo.

That's intense, from what I've seen Arizona and Colorado are very different. Why all the moving? Sounds like you're getting to a place you want to be though, that's cool. Self-employement seems like a whole different beast. I don't think I could do it, I'm impressed with people who can. I got my degree in Political Science, and now I'm doing Americorps, working for an educational non-profit doing fund development.

That's so awesome. What was the convention for? Anything else new going on in life? Yeah, I actually just finished up with school this week. I had convocation and everything last May, but I needed to catch up a couple credits to technically graduate. I turned in my final paper on Tuesday. I've been lucky enough to have a full time job since the beginning of August though. =)

Whaaaat? I was just telling my housemate about how being a part of a teen online forum (aka the-n.com back with it was the-n) expanded my worldview and made me question my beliefs for the better. Now they don't even have that? Dang. Whoever is in charge of their whole re-branding really sucks. Had you still be active on the boards? But anyway! Long time no talk, how's life been?
