• Peaches... The BEST Show You Could Possibly See!

Thu 12 Nov – TaxLo presents Peaches

Doors were at 8pm. I showed up at 9pm. I still waited for about an hour before any of the acts went on.
'Ponytail' was a strange band. They played grateful dead guitar music, maybe phish-esque sound, but the VOCALS were the really charming part. They made weird noises like quirky-psychedelic unicorns mixed with something a little bit like Ween. The lead singer was androgynous and wore a muscle/fat suit underneath a plaid lumberjack shirt and had one eye painted in black with glitter.
'Men' was an amazing performance. Everyone loved them. They had props! They had awesome clothes. They had a meaningful and edgy song that was something about 'fuck my best----make little babies---make gay babies.' Fantastic.

Then, 'Peaches,' jumped out and was wearing clothes I would love to own one day. She had on a vinyl mad max uniform and just tore everything off and had seventeen million pairs of leggings and unitards of iridescent colors. She stage-dived and then hung from the lighting in the middle of the room. She spit blood on the audience, and had a 'pussy light.' She was sparkly and brilliant and bold. I expected no less.
  • We're Not Losers, We're LASERS!

Sun 11 Oct – Homecoming Concert

It was a cozy concert that I would not have attended if the original act scheduled to perform had not canceled. The beginning half was a little like a rock concert, not my style. Why is this happening at hip hop concerts now? Interesting.
    But then it got better.
My favorite part was when Lupe did a little talking in the middle of the show. He talked about love and war and said that everyone should live in integrity and be true and smile...etc. etc. etc.

Sat 25 Apr – The Roots: Johns Hopkins Spring Fair Concert

The security for this event made the whole thing STRANGE.
I was not allowed to have cigarettes in the venue. My bag was searched. I also was not allowed to have matches or a lighter. I don't even smoke weed, but I felt a little paranoid! The performance itself was good. The Roots are always a good!

I was distracted by the flood lights. During the entire performance, there were lights shining on the AUDIENCE. Honestly, I felt a little cheated. I went to see the band, not the jocks getting crunk and the security gaurds going after them ( the whole time... no exaggeration ). The vibe was paranoid and it was wigging me out.

Wed 20 May – Mr. Lif

I went. It was a friendly show. My friend, also a teacher, and I met another teacher from Tennessee who said it was his "first hip hop show ever." That was enough for me to know it was a good show. He liked it.

By the way, there were a maximum of thirty people there, which made it even better.
