    It's a little of a cake fest at Eurovision this year - the Belarusian song is "Cheesecake"... I'm actually quite excited for it all - I have some ESC fever already! I'm sure Danish TV will put on a good show, and I'll dance around the room to my favourite songs, and I'll be deep in anxiety waiting for my favourites to get to the final.. :) (The torment when Anouk/Netherlands was last to be called last year!) I know what you mean about France - they are one of the most interesting Eurovision countries for sure. France had a national final this year, too. Thank you again for the Tony Benn show. I know that he had been unwell but it was still a time of sadness to hear that he had died. I must take him as my inspiration, and try to change the world.. (Well, I can do what I can ;) )

    Heh, I think I might support this song at Eurovision this year - isn't it just adorable? I think the Finnish song will stand out in that it's quite rocky - off the top of my head I can't think of anything similar. I also find the "power to the people" thing in the UK song a little bit grating, but I understand why it is there (the people want a hook, and something instant.. :) ). At least UK seems to be making something of an effort with Eurovision this year.. Thank you for the Tony Benn link, and for the Welsh music info.. Tony Benn will always be a figure of such importance to me. And that article made me think of my younger days, reading NME so scrupulously, with a dictionary to hand... :)

    Hello! Thank you very much for the birthday wishes, and thank you for the dog video (aww!) and the game (perhaps another aww sound, as I fall to an addiction ;) ). Pleased you enjoyed the concert! Sounds like quite an event.. Do you like the Finnish song for Eurovision this year? The British song is actually ok: not something I'd particularly listen to but it's catchy, contemporary, good singer..

    I'm a fan of the new PSB album, too, and "Love is a Bourgeois Construct" is my favourite song. (The critics all seem to be raving about "Electric", and it is indeed a very strong album, but I also really enjoyed "Elysium") (I think "Bolshy" is one of the catchiest songs in the world already: bolshy bolshy bolshy...) Heh, I have been reading a David Lodge book this week ("Deaf Sentence") (again "Love is a Bourgeois Construct" is AMAZING!!! Lyrically, musically, politically, etc!!). Thank you for the link to that review. I haven't bought a new CD all year. Hmm, I guess the year is still young(ish)...

    Thank you! I look forward to hearing... I really enjoyed the last PSB album and it's quite something to have a new one already. (I can't wait to hear the song that mentions Tony Benn: that song must get a Brit, Grammy, etc already...) I see that Krista Siegfrids is one of the coaches on "The Voice" in Finland and Mira Luoti is another of the coaches. Now, who would I choose to coach me... ;) (I'm afraid I don't know the male on the panel)

    Thank you for the article. :) (Heh, loved the little feature on the Danish flag being discovered in the Coca-Cola logo as well) I listened to some of Krista's album on Spotify (I listened to the Emmelie de Forest album too!). Well, maybe one can guess what the Krista album is like... (Not subtle and heartfelt piano ballads) (Unless they appear somewhere later in the album ;) ) The Power Horse Cup? Wow, I'd want to win that cup even more because of the name... (I am a rubbish tennis fan, I should know/be following these tournaments!) It is Roland Garros fortnight which makes me happy and I wish Jarkko maximum success!

    You may (or may not) be interested in this article (or maybe you have sensibly left the Eurovision behind.. ;) ). It's a little bit jaw-dropping... (I'm Twitter friends with the writer: he is very knowledgeable and passionate)

    And I really didn't want Russia to win (blech, sure the singer is a sweetheart, but such a saccharine song) and didn't want Azerbaijan to get their hands on it again (nothing personal, but the country...). (Was happy for Belgium, too! But whaaa Estonia? Overall, I can't protest too much..)

    Goood afternoon.. :) I'm sorry for Krista and Finland. Krista still seems to be in good spirits on Twitter and I wish her well: again, maybe I didn't love the song but she sold it so very well and she's SUCH a lovely and fun personality. Ahh, I was genuinely concerned for Bonnie at the beginning, too! (And the Spanish singer) Bonnie also seems lovely but I really don't think there can be too many complaints with her placing (sorry, countrywoman Bonnie). I thought the Finnish votes were very good (I just looked up Kristiina Wheeler on Wikipedia, btw). SO happy for smiley Malta, masterpiece Netherlands, Hungarian dude. Klaus Nomi was referenced by a couple of the commentators re the Romanian entry.. :) (And I really respect the fact that he gave it everything out there: it was so bold and bright. Not really my song but respect to Mr. Cezar.. )

    I hope you have a good night tonight, whatever you do, and I will of course cheer for Krista too. (I went to the library to print my scorecard for this evening and was served by Lesley. She is a Eurovision fan! She's just returned from Spain and she said there's little apparent interest in Eurovision there) :) (And I'd love to try tennis one day... *thwack* )

    Bonjour! Yes, what an awful idea re the producers arranging the running order tonight: it's unfair and smacks (to me) of some favouritism. I really hope this won't be the case for Copenhagen (?) next year. I bought myself a Maltesers chocolate bar ;) - that is one way I will show my support tonight! (Aww, Gianluca from Malta is so lovely though...) I wonder how the Mikael Saari song would have done (that had a lot of fan support). I'd love to hang out with Krista: she could take me round Stockmann and we could gossip in the ice cream bar... ;) I 'get' the appeal of Norway (sleek electropop, very 'now') but it's not one of my absolute favourites at this point (I don't know how accessible it is either). I don't think Sweden will win again this year. Germany might be good if Anke Engelke presents again. Estoniaaaaa!! Etccccc!!

    Okay, because I am feeling a little braver ;) - my favourite songs last night were from Greece and Malta. Greece (while not really my thing musically) was just infectious: it really entertained me. Malta, aww, he was so cuuute... (Maybe it's just as well I'll never be on a judging panel, right...) The running order for Saturday has been announced. Krista is fourth, Bonnie is 13th or 14th. There's been some controversy over Swedish TV arranging the order: maybe France won't be too happy to sing first, etc. I'd sooner Denmark win than some of the alternatives. Th-th-that's all for Eurovision talk (well, for now ;) ).

    I was so totally charmed by the smiling man from Malta singing about Jeremy working in IT.. I think I would have cried if he hadn't made it. ;) (Hungary's song is also very endearing and that singer is a dude) Krista's made Daily Mail regarding the lesbian kiss in the performance. I cheered when she/Finland went through, of course! All Nordic countries through! (No former Yugoslavian countries through) Saturday, do your thang please...

    (I feel a bit mean for not giving Latvia a higher score after the commentary team here mentioned that the guys were big cat lovers...)

    Goood evening! Firstly, Kristaaa!! Secondly: Kristaaa!! Thirdly: how dare last.fm call my blog spam ;) err Kristaaaa!! Did you enjoy the show? Did you hear me shriek at some of those results? I think the Maltese man must be the nicest person in the history of planet earth ;) - he was lovely! Such a sweet little song there... I hope you enjoyed the concert too. And loved the Urusei Yatsura references there, heh..

    :) I think the Belgian song has a slight Italo kind of sound (if that makes sense): I think that with a little more production and possibly a different vocalist (but the Belgian singer seems very sweet!) it could be seriously (that's SERIOUSLY) good. (And thank you for the info about the songwriting team: the guy cannot fail, huh... ;) ) Wishing Krista well for tonight! I think she'll stand out for sure: she's so full of personality and the song is very 'now' (feisty girlpop). I've read that the Danish song is the overwhelming favourite with the bookmakers now, but who knows. Can't wait until tonight!! Ding dong!!!

    In the interests of completion ;) - my final rankings (from last night) were.. Netherlands, Moldova, Croatia, Estonia, Slovenia, Denmark (I think that's gonna win the whole thing), Serbia, Lithuania, Belgium, Belarus, Ireland, Ukraine, Cyprus, Austria, Montenegro (didn't like song at all, though good singer & fun to watch), Russia. Thank you and goodnight ;) (I think Yui is a Eurovision fan: she's frustrated at trying to find a good quality stream and has her drink and snacks next to her laptop) (Ui made sure she was okay)

    Whaaaa!! *excited* (So much sugar this evening!) I've loved hearing your Eurovision thoughts. I printed scorecards too (hey, I think KRISTA might kick my butt if I put her below Sweden ;) ). I really liked Moldova as well: I was mostly really happy with those qualifiers. Why did they leave Netherlands (my favourite) until last, though? I literally shrieked with joy when they got through! Very pleased for my beloved Estonia too.. My least favourites were Russia and Montenegro (though I appreciated the Montenegrin energy). I think Belgium could be REALLY good with some more work. Ehh, and Lithuania getting through as well... *breathes* *babbles* Thought Croatia were unlucky not to make it... (I might wear my Suomi T-shirt on Thursday btw! And I will give Krista 2-4- err, 10-10-10!! ;) )

Über mich

The Cow

Thank you, pretty cow, that made
Pleasant milk to soak my bread,
Every day and every night,
Warm, and fresh, and sweet, and white.

Do not chew the hemlock rank,
Growing on the weedy bank;
But the yellow cowslips eat;
They perhaps will make it sweet.

Where the purple violet grows,
Where the bubbling water flows,
Where the grass is fresh and fine,
Pretty cow, go there to dine.

~Ann Taylor~

I can't believe it!! I was listening to the last.fm radio when I reached 8000 artists in my library, so I wasn't trying to select anyone in particular.. And who got the honour of being the 8000th artist? David Hasselhoff! Yeah! (9000: 林一峰) (10000: Aldo Campoamor) (11000: Marilyn) (12000: Portugal. The Man) (13000: Sorry Bamba)
