Well, the movie came out in Spain in 17th December, but i have to say, i'm not big fan of this movies. Of course, i seen AUJ and DOS, and i like it. About 12 Years, i only listen the track Solomon, and i think is a ripoff of Time.

I saw the film yesterday. It was enjoyable yes, but I wasn't washed away by it. I saw an interview with Peter Jackson the other day and he looked so so tired, which has reflected on the film. As for the score, I couldn't really hear it that well in the film at times. I'm aware it's not just about the music in the film, but I missed out some moments where themes were played so I couldn't really connect them with characters or situations. I think I'll stick to the albums concerning Hobbit-films.

I see you've been listening to BotFA like crazy already. I've just purchased the score and am giving it a first listen right now. Will see the film tomorrow, but I'm not holding my breath. As for the score, its opening, with Fire And Water, is great. Perhaps it won't be like RotK, but Howard Shore did give it all again, I reckon. Since you've listened to it over and over, this is a stupid question, but how do you feel about the music? As standalone score and in comparison with the other music.

Yeah, I find it the best Hobbit score. It's a connection of the rich sounds from AUJ with the thematic complexity from DOS. A great culmination. Pity there are only two new themes, but the movie doesn't give real possibilities for more. And pity that the theme from the second half of Ironfoot appears only in one other track - "Shores of the Long Lake"... it's such a beautiful melody! Like these from LotR...

Well, i didn't finish it, but i agree with AUJ, much better than that.

I haven't even scrobbled Interstellar or The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies yet... Two of my favourite scores this year. I think Interstellar is Zimmer's best score since Inception and I hope he will win the Oscar for it (although, I do not think that will happen sadly, I think the boring score to Birdman will win). Of course Shore won't get nominated :( I hope HTTYD 2 will, but I honestly doubt they will give it a nod. By the way, I love when Galadriel exits her "demon phase" in Guardians of the Three around 5.01 - it is the same statement that we hear in LotR! How would you rank the scores for the Hobbit by the way?

Ey! I like Pompeii and think a few cues are really good; like the first track for instance - the rest is a bit too generic and unengaging for me I must say. I think it is a good score, but not great - nothing I would give more than 3/5 to be honest. I have been pretty inactive here as you might have noticed by the way, but I'll obviously be back scrobbling when I get more time. I have heard a lot more new stuff than I have scrobbled here though. Wow, you really love turtles! I have to admit I haven't heard that one yet, but it is on my list of stuff to listen to. I am disappointed with Tylers' other efforts this year, namely, Into the Storm and The Expendables 3. They were not bad obviously, just nothing I really enjoyed - nothing I would give more than 3/5. If I had to name his three best scores I have heard in full in no particular order I would say Thor 2, Iron Man 3 and Battle L.A. I really hope I will like turtles a lot more than The Expendables 3 and Into the Storm though!

I see you liked TBOTFA as well. It's beautiful, isn't it? I find it the best Hobbit soundtrack. :)

Yeah, the samples are typical, but I think they sound still better than the two previous soundtracks have sounded (the samples of them, I mean). It seems there will be less underscore than in Desolation of Smaug.

  • DanielosVK Here you can listen to "Ironfoot", a track from the upcoming Hobbit. What do you think about? I think it's very good. The melody and pipes in the begininng are very interesting, and the second half of the track includes some beautiful sounds like we could hear in LotR!

Hey! Its bin a long time since of our last shout! What do you think of the Interstellar score? After Man of Steel, Rush and The Lone Ranger, it looked that Zimmer is back in form. But after great scores, he did terrible Amazing-Spiderman 2 and now boring noisy Interstellar with (literally) one big motive? What is wrong with this guy? He used to be genius, fresh...Its crazy how much is he overrated! Just look at his shoutbox! Im really sad, cause I truly love his older stuff, but now...

Well, overall HTTYD2 is imo better musically than the first one, altough it's just not as fresh as HTTYD1 and it hasn't so many highlights. However it works better as a whole. The new main theme is uncommonly beautiful and in my opinion it's the best of all HTTYD themes. :) Yeah, I'm waiting for the Hobbit score as well. Hope it will be the best part of the trilogy. :)

Hi!, i see listened Transformers 4, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Guardians of the Galaxy, i enjoyed so much Guardians and TMNT, such an entertaing scores and truly epic (specially TMNT, my fav from Tyler this year), for Transformers, i like it, but i think TF 1 and TF 3 are better.

Isn't How to Train Your Dragon 2 a beautiful score?

Hi! Nope, only the main theme, and so I planned to rectify this situation, because main theme is a really epic. It's classical Tyler's style, so I liked it. Stunning and beautiful percussions with fabulous choir and some dramatic techniques. Epic.

Hi, I'm also positive surprised by the Guardians of the Galaxy score. It makes really fun to listen to this music. I wasn't expecting that.

I just can't believe it! Michael Giacchino is one of my most favourite composist and still, even If Im in the middle of score, Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes is so boring! Nothing new, no interesting cue, just boring! Its really sad, cause the beginning of the score was so hopeful! Ill give it a chance, but in the end it will be Michaels worst score to date!

In addition to the upcoming scores you have mentioned, I'm also curious about Steven Price's score for Fury, even though I only loved some cues from Gravity, I don't hold the whole score that high to be honest (I like it though). I'm sure some score will surprise us though... hopefully! I'd also add Interstellar by Zimmer to the list. Hopefully Beltrami or Desplat can surprise us with any of their upcoming scores too. Strange that there is no Hobbit trailer yet, that should come soon (one can always hope for a snippet of the score, but I guess they'll go will trailer music as usual). Other good "news" - Spielberg has two films coming up, which hopefully means (I think it is safe to assume) - two new Williams scores in addition to Star Wars! A Cold War Thriller & The BFG. Horner will also have two new scores in 2015! Hopefully Shore can take on something interesting as well after The Hobbit is completed, i'm actually curious to see what he will do next - the same goes for Peter Jackson.
