That's very good to hear (well, "to read", actually)! Most current Biffy fans raiding the internet are post-Puzzle Biffy fans (even those who enjoy their older releases more). I've been closely following their work since the Blackened Sky album was released, back in the Summer of 2002 if my mind isn't playing tricks on me. I remember ordering two debut albums at the time, Biffy's and Hundred Reason's. I was very excited for the Hundred Reasons debut, because they were a band I was more familiar with and barely knew a thing about Biffy back then. Needless to say Blackened Sky completely cornered Ideas Above Our Station (even though they're both great albums). So after 5 years of devotion to what was my favourite band for the longest period of time, they release Puzzle... And break my heart in the process.

That's actually what I meant with my "coping with mainstream Biffy" remark, i.e., you still think they suck, but you're able to enjoy their music. That's what I do anyway. I honestly miss the old Biffy, but I find their current music style fun and enjoyable at a more poppish kind of level anyway.

Thanks! Moving on to a bigger label forced them to make their sound more accessible to a wider audience. Im sure they knew what they were getting into when signing the contract. As long as they're under 14th Floor, songs like those in Puzzle and OR are the only Biffy songs you're gonna get. And there's no turning back now. You're either able to cope with "mainstream Biffy" or you'll have to quit listening to the band.

Well, I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I don't hate OR with a vengeance (that's reserved for Puzzle) nor do I love it with a passion (that's reserved for TVOB). I like OR as a fun pop rock album. There are definitely some catchy tunes in there and I often find myself singing a long to some of those tracks (unintentionally, of course). But, to be honest, I don't find it not even slightly good. In fact, I dare to say it's Biffy Clyro's worst album to date. At least Puzzle gave us that underrated gem that was "Now I'm Everyone". As for OR... it just gave us "radio hits". It's definitely an album to please the masses and I honestly enjoying listening to it, but for me it is the album that cemented Biffy's reputation as a mainstream act, cutting all remaining ties with their former more alternative and experimental selves (from the Beggars Banquet days). So I guess it's a fun album that make me sad.
