What a fuckin show, first support was well pish, but Hush totally destroyed the place the crowd didn't know what to do. Seeing Dave onstage just made my night, never mind the fact he was selling the merch beforehand, I tried and failed not to totally geek out in front of him, but he said he liked my shirt and I just lost it. For his first time in Glasgow I think we gave him a good welcome. I have to thank you for bringing them to my attention, I know for a fact this would just passed me by and I would find out about it and been all sad face, so thanks Mr Chris.

  • AZWAI07

Yeah they are getting a lot more exposure as well, Zane Lowe is all over them, which is really good for them. The venu im seeing narrows at is a pub so i expect it to be a wild night! Dude i so can't wait the mighty JB to be throwing down with a room fully full of nutters lo!

  • AZWAI07

Same with yours bro digging you library. Tomassi were tight as usual, Throats were heavy as, just i like it. I see your going to see narrows man, im loving the album Dave Verellen id god, lol! Im going to see the almighty Converge in july, not seen them before so can't wait.

How's the new Dillinger album then? I've heard good things about it. Not bought one of there's since Miss Machine. At one point I'd see them every time they played, some of the most epic shows I can remember.

i loooveeeeee it... cant wait to hear rest of album!!!

    Februar 2010
  • Caledonia88

Yeah, really excellent stuff. I want to go to all those gigs but i don't think i'll be able to make them. We'll need to see! White Walls is definitely BTBAM's best songs...it has EVERYTHING! Have you listend to the band MONO? i'm looking forward to seeing them at Oran Mor in March.

    Februar 2010
  • Caledonia88

Also - how good of a song is desrt of song? Fucking amazing!

    Februar 2010
  • Caledonia88

Definitely - i hope they do that would be great. Tommy was on fire and so was Dan and the rest of them. Just totally doing their best. I can't stand the generic metal attitude so i'm pretty pleased i left after them. I'm listening to swim to moon just now and i wish they played it but the LOG fans would have went into a rage hahaha One of the best songs of the year for me though! (last year) You gonna go along to Bigelf and priestess?

    Februar 2010
  • Caledonia88

It was amazing. However, the emos didn't appreciate the fucking amazing music they make. The musicianship is excellent but the fans are quite closed minded and just want crappy heavy heavy music all the time...it gets boring! Anyways...they played really well but i'm looking forward to their own headline tour

enjoy the BTBAM gig? Good music taste mate.

I had never heard of Narrows before you brought them to my attention. Just went through the album on Spotify, love it. Didn't know TAAS had split, got to see them twice, even went to see Pelican cause they were the support. I've never been to The Captains rest for a gig, is it a good space? I'm just going to take my GF to it, the last heavy gig I went to was Converge at Ivory Blacks and I had to drag one of my mates along, he wasn't impressed. Why are people bitching about the Glassjaw gig then?

    Februar 2010
  • SwitchTheMunky

Bloody Hell, I didn't know anything about Narrows, they've never even popped up on my radar, thanks man. It's the day after my GF's birthday, but I'm sure she'll understand, heh. None of my mates are into metal of any sort these days. We all kind of turned into techno/electro people as we got older, but I still like to keep an ear to that stuff. So it's very rare for me to find some-one with a love of the Botch. I've been to see Minus the Bear and TAAS just to get my Botch fix in the past, but I think seeing Narrows might top it. Have you got the live DVD/CD thing that came out a few years back?

    Februar 2010
  • SwitchTheMunky

Got my Fear Before The March Of Flames album through, think I might of been spoiled by Botch. They just seem a bit soft in comparison, still quite good and i love the intro to Ten Seconds In Los Angeles and Mouth just destroys every other track on the album. So how's your year in gigs been so far. Also does your copy of The Always Open Mouth have two booklets?

    Februar 2010
  • Wolf_Diamond

Have you ever heard of the band Hopefall, pre-atypes. Their album the Satellite Years sounds like ur description of Converge. Give them a listen bro, u wont be disappointed... i hope LOL

    Januar 2010
  • Wolf_Diamond

is Converge your average boring hardcore band, or are they more then that ? i havent been into hardcore for a long time and im wondering if coverage could change that, im seeing alot of people with good taste enjoying the fuck out of them . so judging by my taste, would i enjoy?

    Januar 2010
  • SwitchTheMunky

I meant adding them to your past events list, it's such a wonderful thing to see them all listed. Got my first album of the year in, Delphic - Acolyte, quite good if your into M83 or Efterklang, sort of like Sigur Ros crossed with Bloc Party. That's me just ordered The Always Open Mouth, better be good, I've still never found anything to better the mighty Botch.

    Januar 2010
  • SwitchTheMunky

Haven't been to the Garage in forever, think the last time was for Hot Hot Heat. Stop going there about the same time I stopped buying NME and Kerrang. So how come you've not done your events list properly? That was my favourite thing about this site, not having to hang onto to gig tickets anymore. You've got all the dates recorded, it would be well easy, go on, you know you want to.

    Januar 2010
  • SwitchTheMunky

Seeing as I live in the lovely town of Paisley, I have come to love the ABC/ABC2, all gigs finish at 10pm, so I always get to see the whole show and catch the last train home. It kinda back fired last year though, I waited 5 years to see Les Savy Fav, when they do end up playing Glasgow it was part of the All Tomorrows Parties film premier. By the time the film ended they only got to play for about 40min tops,I was so gutted. You should check them out if you're a fan of At the Drive-In. I see you're a fan of Fear Before the March of Flames, I was looking at some-one else's decade list and a FBtMoF album topped it. They said it was better than anything Botch or Converge have put out, are they worth looking into?

    Januar 2010
  • volatyle

It was a while ago but from what I remember.. Axe To Fall, Worms Will Feed, and Dark Horse.

    Januar 2010
  • AEnimia

well there's no fault to putting White Pony up at number one. It is a remarkable album. I'd say that it's my second favorite....hell it's prolly tied for my favorite album with the self-titled for the Deftones. which I saw was like number 44 on your list. and I'll agree now with 9 out of you top 10. I got Vheissu last nite and really enjoyed listening to it. How is Miss Machine by TDEP? I only have the Irony Is a Dead Scene EP by them. Is it worth checking out?

    Januar 2010
  • SwitchTheMunky

Not so much the gig, but the night overall, would have to be Late of the Pier in Feb. I don't know if you remember, but that month we had heavy snow. Me and my mates came out of the Oran Mor and there was like 1ft of snow on the ground, I was soaked from the gig and had to run up and down the middle of the road trying to get a taxi to stop so we could get back into the city center to get into the Sub Club. When we got out the club we ended up having a snowball fight on Buchanan Street at 4am. It was cool having my first and last gig of the year in the snow.

    Januar 2010
  • volatyle

It's hilarious and incredibly ironic. I think most of them are missing that the joke is on them.

    Januar 2010
  • SwitchTheMunky

I've been doing my Top 10 since 2003, back when it was all on good old pen and paper. Way easier back then to, I'd only bought about 20 albums from that year. I had about 40 from 2009, it was killer to make up. The joys of full time employment, heh. We Are The Romans got a re-release in 2006, so I cheated to get it into my list, but Glasgow Mega-Snake won hands down in my track of the century list. So what was your live highlight of last year?

    Januar 2010
  • volatyle

The venue was fairly large.. but it was PACKED. Most people were there for Mastodon and Dethklok.. I went mostly for Converge. I remember looking around when they were playing and it seemed a majority of the people had no idea who Converge was. It was insane. Really good exposure for them to all the Hot Topic nerds, though. Heh.

    Januar 2010
  • volatyle

I luckily got to see them with Mastodon and Dethklok a couple months ago. Trying to go to Maryland Deathfest this year as they will be there as well. I agree, Axe To Fall is fucking great. They can do no wrong.

    Januar 2010
  • SwitchTheMunky

Hey if you're going to do a Top 100, adding the DOR isn't going to make you any sadder, lol. What's with your lack of Botch, it's like you've got all the right ingredients, but still no Botch.

    Januar 2010
  • volatyle

Hell yes! I am beyond excited. Sometimes you folks in the UK get shows I would have killed to be at too.

hey hey. thx for adding me. very nice charts.yeah im nuts about Glassjaw. saw them live last night at Philadelphia, Electric Factory Brand New tour. huge crowd. this was the best shows ive ever been and a seriously intense. Set List was:You Think You're John Fucking Lennon,Tip Your Bartender,Mu Empire, Ape Dos Mil, The Gillette Cavalcade of Sports, Pink Roses, Jesus Glue, Two Tabs of Mescaline, Siberian Kiss. I managed to take some pics, though got in troubles for my half-professional camera at the entrance.

i have barely seen any bands this year it feels liek. Saw Cursed twice last summer before they split;Glasgow/Belgium. That was a fuckin good time. You got a long list there of things i wish i'd seen, so i don't feel bad. So haha

    September 2009
  • Chris_kr

The Bronx would be good to see, I always miss them. Otherwise I think I'll give ToC a miss, I'm pretty confident ETID will play again and probably with a less hefty price tag into the bargain. There are so many bands I want to see playing in the next few months, it's pretty cool, though a bit harsh on the old pocket.

    September 2009
  • Chris_kr

Aww, man. I want to see Every Time I Die again aswell but I'm not so into the other bands on ToC this year. Think I'm "maybe" going to see Ok Pilot that night too. Hmmmmmmmmmm...

well at the moment I am in Ireland, living with my brother, but that's only for the summer.. in ten days I'll be back in Lithuania, going to my universy and doing lots of shows with my band. and recording my fourth solo album. yes oh yes.
