The Berlin Mitte Institut für Bessere Elektronische Musik (BMI) is a collective of some music enthusiasts, who are running a platform for the experimentation of concepts related to electronic music culture.

Every second Monday from 7 pm CET the BMI presents the local, national and international DJ in-crowd and a variety of live acts from on the electronic music scene. We focus on showcasing unique concepts and presenting the the most appealing tracks from all genres of electronic music as well as selecting the sweetest monthly releases for the interested listener.

The BMI broadcasts bi-weekly (since October 2006) each and every second Monday from 7 pm CET till midnight on Shouted.FM in LIVE video and audio streaming. During our shows we make a lot of effort not just to play great music, but also to get our guests to open up and give us a deeper look at what makes them tick, live and uncut!

Our playlist includes national and international electronic players, who will showcase their definition of “better electronic music”. We have already presented various labels, clubs, event promoters and other concepts such as Minus, Mobilee, Berghain/Panorama Bar, Get Physical, Poker Flat and many more.

Once a month we air the “New Releases Show” to showcase the latest releases of labels and unsigned artists, big and small, and give our considered comments and feedback.

As an offspring of the BMI, the Berlin Kreuzberg Institut (BKI) features selected showcases of known and upcoming DJs and producers of electronic music from in and outside of Berlin, in a 3 hours radio show broadcastet monthly on Proton Radio. The focus of the BKI shows is the “special thing” that makes these artists stand out. The BKI aims at discovering fresh talents and presenting you with some of the best acts in electronic dance music.

The BMI shows are produced by Fresh Meat and Kandel. The BKI shows are hosted and presented by Sacha Robotti and Cord Henning Labuhn, as Robosonic, DJ and producer team and owners of Diskomafia records.
