clytie_hizashi @ooMaz3Roo: By that definition, since Lady Gaga uses violins in her music, she should be tagged classical. Hell, I love two of the top artists, but they're not medieval. They're folk-pop, in the case of Blackmore's Night, or even neo-medieval in the case of Qntal (which at least uses period texts).

Pitonudote @Pimpology I don't know about you, but maybe someone else is far more interested on this kind of music, so I'm gonna give my recommendations: You should start listening to albums like "The Triumphs Of Maximilian" (By David Munrow & The Early Music Consort of London) or the superb compilation "Music Form The Time Of The Templars". These albums, are not so easy to find.

ooMaz3Roo @clytie_hizashi: Nei, by "close to medieval" I meant "close to medieval" and that "people adapt it", where "it" refers to medieval music, which they (people) adapt to modern music. As you clearly understand, "close to medieval" doesn't mean medieval at, but it also doesn't mean it's not similar. The instruments are usually (not always though) not authentic as well as style, but this music inherited some parts of it, which makes it exactly similar to original medieval music - as already said, neomedieval. ...Another issue which people may encounter during this discussion is how everyone understands the word "medieval". Is it style of music, which was popular during the medieval period or is it music that was created during that period. While I was writing my comment, I meant the style, not the time. But last.fm doesn't separate those.

It's as close to medieval as it could be. Except actual music from European middle-ages and renaissance, which is, I believe what you meant, original medieval music. But there isn't much of that nowadays. People adapt it instead. So you may call it neomedieval. People tend to mistag anyway.

Miklak tags are a very flawed system since they often have nothing to do with actual genres and people mistag artists all the time. if you are looking for actual medieval music, check out early music tag. easy.

B4AfterWebRadio It should be possible to search using more than one search term, i.e., "Medieval" and "Early Music". Then one could weed out the results inappropriately tagged with "Medieval".
