I personally believe T. Rex should be first, if it wasn't for him David Bowie wouldn't even be here.

  • Dustijn

Actually, it should be T. Rex, David Bowie and Roxy Music -- KISS don't belong here.

  • StefanTrip

Only T. Rex are kings of glam rock, then KISS and David Bowie defined this genre,Queen don't have any influences of this genre.

  • RoomForSymmetry

I don't even follow this genre really, but not having New York Dolls in the top artists is pretty baffling...

Has anyone here ever seen "Velvet Goldmine"? I saw it when it first came out, and it got me interested in glam, along with punk. In a roundabout way, it also got me into garage rock.

The fact that Cinema Bizarre are up there and the New York Dolls aren't even in the top artists makes me want to punch someone in the face.

I hate the fact that "hair metal" and "glam metal" are related tags. It's sad seeing Twisted Sister and Warrant with the likes of Bowie, Roxy Music and T. Rex.

Seeing some of the more recent glam bands (2000s era) it's quite interesting to note that they play songs similar from back in the 1980's. It's almost like they don't think glam fits in today's music...

Oh, come on! Bowie and 70's Roxy Music really belong in the same category as Kiss and Sweet?!? I think Bowie went through a glam phase, but along with 70's Roxy Music(especially with Eno who also worked with Bowie for 3 albums), Bowie and Roxy were mainly experimentalists who brought avant-garde into rock, along with others. I like some glam (New York Dolls, Mott the Hoople, etc.) but Bowie and Roxy don't fit with the others (except they often wore outrageous clothes, but that doesn't define the music.)
